The Bottom Line ...
* OK, there really is only one place to start: Guns N Roses. Axl's voice didn't sound that great (especially not compared to a bootleg or two that I have from last year), but the energy, the enthusiasm, hell, I felt like Jimmy Fallon did about the whole thing. I don't think they'll be superstars again, but if just for one night, Guns N Roses was what music needed.
* Keeping with the MTV awards theme, if Beavis and Butthead couldn't present the Beavis Band (Linkin Park) with their award, was there REALLY any better choice than Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth?
* Speaking of DLR, jesus christ he looks like SH*T!
* Tough news about Dave Williams from Drowning Pool. I hated Bodies, but that Sinner song was a real big guilty pleasure.
* It's official: KISS is worse than The Who and Aerosmith COMBINED for releasing the same songs in greatest hit collections OVER and OVER and OVER again. The worst part? I don't have any KISS in my collection at the moment (outside of two old tapes), so I'll probably end up buying it. Damn it.
* So let me get this straight: The Vines have played a whopping 50 shows, and they're the next big thing? Their lead singer is a jackass, and oh yeah, they SUCKED at the MTV Awards. I remain unimpressed and unmoved.
* Speaking of unimpressed and unmoved, am I the only one who seems to realize that Coldplay is boring, repugnant, and blander than the latest Michael Bolton record? Jesus we Americans are sad when we embrace sh*t like that.
* Memo to Britney Spears: when wearing that leather getup you wore at the MTV awards, if you pull the wedgie out of your a*s crack, you might be able to walk straight. Just thought you'd like to know.
* Memo to David Fricke: In answer to your question of "where the hell is Jealous Again?" on the new Black Crowes live album, it was not played in Boston, which are the two shows the discs are culled from. Are you getting lazy in your old age David?
* So one of the idiots left 3LW. This became newsworthy when? You had your one hit, now please, go the f*ck away!
* You know the record buying public are morons when a song that basically goes "MOVE, GET OUT THA WAY" over and over again becomes a hit. Why? Can anyone explain this jackass to me? Anyone?
* B2K is supposedly working on a holiday album. Can anyone explain the appeal of these idiots to me? They just look RETAHDED (full Boston accent needed for that one).
* Kate Hudson, I deem you the new Yoko Ono. You can kiss my a*s you hoity toity stuck up wannabe groupie b*tch.
* You know, I take great pleasure knowing that the new Moby album hasn't even gone gold. When your best song is a cover of a punk classic, you're just sad.
* The new Disturbed albums comes out in a couple weeks, but I think everyone wants to know one thing: does their singer do his ape impersonation again on this album?
* In an interesting role reversal, Pearl Jam has influenced The Who. Well, sort of. The Who has decided to make 2 CD soundboard recordings of it's tour available on www.themusic.com. The bad news is that it's unclear whether the first two legs will be made available, which sucks because my show was the first of leg number two. So I get screwed it looks like. Oh well, just gonna have to buy one of the other ones I guess. Oh yeah, and for those who think this is their attempt to once again "cash in," think again: all proceeds are going to charities.
