For Granniemose's 80th: a short story called Browning
by Horswispr | Oct 18 '02
This is a short story I wrote several years ago. I thought Granniemose might enjoy it. I think she can handle the harsh language.

A tight and organized piece of fiction. I hope there's more where this came from. I am going to look now. Tom Barnes

Horswhisper, this is a terrific story. I was on the edge of my seat. I am glad the two druggies did not kill you. Perhaps the mountains did bring out the best in them - although their best was really bad. I do think this story should be published. You have talents of many colors - a terrific writer, a musician, a counselor, a killer of ants :). The ant thing is at least one thing we have in common. I kill the pesky things with anything I have available, and with no regrets at all.

Well, anyway, I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart for bringing out this great story for my birthday bash. It is appreciated more then you know. (Yes, I can handle the language. I have heard much worse. In fact, the words bounce around inside the subconscious looking for a time when I am frustrated so they can slip out and make me look evil. The only solution is to think happy so they can't get away. Hopefully the words will die from malnutrition.)

I literally held my breath as I read it. (Thanks to you, I am now a shade of blue, since I am not a speed reader)...What a beautifully written story! Glad the heroes were the little old ladies. It is amazing to think that some things stay the same after all, sometimes.

I am in such awe of the power of your words that I really can't think of anything more to say than thank you for this, from the bottom of my heart! Jude
