TooKool's top 10 movies.Sep 07 '02 Write an essay on this topic. The Bottom Line TooKool's top 10 movie list of all time. I find it very hard to narrow things down to just 10. I'm a very big movie fan and I have quite an extensive DVD collection. I own on DVD every movie that is on this list as well. I'm mostly a fan of mob movies, movies about computer hackers (I'm in the business), space and espionage. I took a good look at my collection and with much thought comprised this list. Everyone's taste isn't the same of course and my top 10 may even be your bottom top 10 but I think you'll have to agree that the movies on this list are at least worth a rental. Ok here goes: #10 - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly - 1966 This is Clint at his best in my opinion; I've lost count of how many times I've watched this. I also loved the showdown scene at the end, remember the music? #9 - Stargate - 1994 This is just a great story. I remember not wanting this movie to end when I first saw it. I love movies that leave you with long "what-if" conversations. #8 - The Godfather Trilogy - 1972, 1974, 1990 Yes, I even liked part 3. The only reason why this isn't higher on the list is due to the fact that it's mostly a drama film with not a lot of "action" that today's mob films have. Don't get me wrong this is a great movie but I'm a sucker for intense non-stop action. I think it's cool to see Pacino and DeNiro when they were so young. #7 - Scarface - 1983 Do I really need to give an explanation on this one? "Say hello to my little friend!" #6 - The Matrix - 1999 How many of us have not seen this one at least 20 times? The soundtrack was great and the originality and the effects of the film were top notch. #5 - Blade - 1998 This movie was built for Wesley, by far his best role IMO. The action was intense and who could forget the fight scenes? Wesley is a bad a**! Great soundtrack on this one as well. Dorff plays the bad guy to a tee! #4 - Amadeus - 1984 Mozart was the greatest musician who ever lived IMO. This was just an excellent story about his life. The acting is superb. If you have never seen Don Giovanni at the opera you are truly missing a treat! #3 - Goodfellas - 1990 Has to be the best mob film of all time IMO. Also another movie with a great soundtrack. #2 - The Hunt for Red October - 1990 You just can't beat Tom Clancy when it comes to CIA stories. This movie had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. Drum roll please------------------ #1 - The Shawshank Redemption - 1994 As many times as I've seen this movie it still has the ability to move me with each viewing. Not many movies have the ability to continuously do that. Morgan Freeman is such a great actor, no matter what role he plays he is always believable as a character. You can't call yourself a true fan of movies if you haven't seen it and no collection is complete without it, IMO. |
