I don't see how any hockey fan in the early 80's couldn't have known most of the Islander players...

Thanks for the comment

Thanks.

It goes both ways of course. There are women who take their husbands for granted and never feel they do enough for them - or exclude them from their lives emotionally.

All we have when we leave this world are the memories we leave behind. I was trying to explain that to someone just this evening.

Thanks for the comment!

Exactly.

I'd rather my kids have an honest image of me rather than that of a saint whom they couldn't possibly live up to.

I think it's healthier as well as being honest.

I think we all have regrets in life; things left undone; things left unsaid.

Thanks for the comment

That was a gem. Thought provoking.

On a lighter note, I can name more than three Islander champs.
The Potvins, Westfall, Nystrom, Gillies, Trottier, Hart, Smith, Melanson, Henning, Goring, Jonsson, Bossy....Al Arbor and Bill Torrey.
Not bad for an old North Stars fan, eh¿

Great review.

Hi,

I can't think of a better review to submit on 9-11 than this one. Yes, our heroes are humans.

I hope someone reading this will change the way he is treating his wife right now while he still has the chance. You have given a lot of people something to mull over -whether male or female.

Good job!

but beautifully written. This is an article that should promote a little self analysis and straight thinking, and it is right on the money.

Finally! Someone who voiced the fact that the people who perished on 9/11 were not gunning for sainthood. They were ordinary people, flaws and all, put in an extraordinarily horrifying situation. Not to downplay this bottomless tragedy or the 2800 lives lost, but there's wont for a better way to remember someone than just as a one-dimensional Jesus wannabe, contrary to what the countless memorials and TV specials would have you believe. It's just not true.
If I were to die tomorrow, I certainly wouldn't want to be remembered as the most wonderful human being on earth - how plastic, and what a dishonorable testament to my life that would be.

To view our lives for a brief second, I am sure many would seek an avenue for change. Probably few get the chance to live a renewed life, make amends for past wrongs, love a little harder, forgive more, judge less.

Bottom line life is here NOW, so it is now we must take stock in who and what we are. Change the negatives, and try and be the person we know we can be.

My heart aches for all those who innocently lost their lives, and the lives of family and friends that will never be quite the same. Be it passenger, rescuer, survivor, worker, visitor or whatever. It is true the acts of 9/11 are etched into our minds and hearts.

We can learn from this disaster, and realize life is short, or we can continue to think we'll always have tomorrow to say I'm sorry or I love you. The proof this is not true lies in dirt and debris at ground zero.

This is a very powerful article you have written and I hope and pray we all take it to heart, and not wait until it is too late. Great tribute, great review. May God continue to bless us all.
