The Bottom Line Nothing gives me a bigger thrill than a movie that scares the $#@^*& out of me.

(I do realize that this horror movie review was written on Sept 11 but I would like to say that I had no bad intentions, and it was a complete coincidence. I don't expect this to bother anyone but if it does I am terribly sorry and I will gladly re-write it so that it appears on another date.)
Matt

Before you all start sending me emails on how I missed a bunch movies, let me say this. A lot of movies that you all chose did not do it for me. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, for example, I believe it to be the worst movie ever. The whole movie is about this guys who runs around killing these random people, I'm sorry it was just boring. Child's play was funny and a bunch of other movies just did not scare me or thrill me. The movies I chose are the movies that either scared or had me anxiously waiting to see what's going to happen.

#10 Psycho
Let me give you the scoop on this one. When it first came out in theaters, people were expecting a thriller or suspense movie based on Janet Leigh (shower girl). The beginning of the movie is how she stole some money and the audience is waiting to see if she is going to get caught or not. Apparently based on movie goers in 1960 nobody was expecting the shower scene. People jumped out of their seats, Hitchcock had fooled everyone and had done a great job. After wards when you would hear Psycho, you would talk about the shower scene, so when people saw the movie for the first time in later years they were not as surprised as the 1960 audience. This is still a great movie and is must see if you watch horror movies.

#9 The Blair Witch Project
I got an idea, round up a couple of friends and go to a abandoned country house in the forest. Then rent this movie and tell me what happened. I already know what happened, you jumped in the car and went home to see mommy. This is a great witch and scary sounds movie. They did a great job it scared millions of people, made millions of dollars and it took 5 dollars to make. Watch this movie in the dark all alone, you'll have a great time.

#8 The Sixth Sense
M. Night Shyamalan has it all. He does a great job with this movie completely surprising us the whole time. Haley does a wonderful job. The ghosts are terrifying and Bruce Willis is great in every movie. A really terrifying motion picture thats has you on the edge of your seat. Great directing and acting, an academy award nominee for supporting actor, Haley, and Best Picture nominee.

#7 Silence Of The Lambs
One of the greatest acting performances I have ever seen. Anthony Hopkins is positively terrifying, one of the few times you will be rooting for a villain, a man eating villain. He gives you chills all over your body. Jodie and Tony put on a great show, he helps her find Buffalo Bill the alleged killer who has kidnapped a girl, but at the same time she allows him to get too much on her private life which makes for a great ending. Swept the Academy Awards with best actor, actress, director and picture.

#6 Requiem For A Dream
I don't know if this is a horror movie or not but it scared the hell out of me. It shows the life of 3 young kids and one of their mothers and how drugs can take over someone's life. If you're a parent and you want to scare your children tell them to watch this movie, trust me after watching this film they won't even get near drugs. This movie is terrifying because its shows the harsh realty of how drugs are addictive. They rely on them so much that they would do anything to get it, ANYTHING.

#5 Scream
I could care less about what people think about this movie, I loved it, and that is why it is on my list. They do a great job hiding from us the identity of the killer. The movie has terror, jokes and they perfectly mix them both and still keep the "horror movie" genre. Great violence, great girls and the cell phone thing was a great idea. This movie had it all, I've watched it 20 times and I'll keep watching it.

#4 Signs
"Don't see it alone"
The day it came out I was suppose to see it with my friends at 12.30 am but nobody wanted to go because they were tired. I told them goodnight and went alone. I had the greatest time, I was scared out my mind. Once again M. Night does a great job making this movie terrifying. It is not an alien invasion movie but a movie where you await the invasion and wonder when it will come. A movie where you wonder about coincidence whether there is a purpose or not. A great soundtrack, great acting with Mel and Mr. Phoenix.

#3 Friday The 13th
Scary. Kids alone at camp are hunted down by a killer. The greatest idea and one of the most well known horror movies since 1980. Nothing is better than having teen-agers going nuts during the summer and than have their summer ruined because a mass murderer wants to kill them because of a camping accident that happened several years ago. A terrifying soundtrack and very well done to scare the heck out of you.

#2 Halloween
The original teen-age slasher movie which I sometime's hum the music to. Very scary and suspense packed. Michael Myers haunts around the neighborhood looking for who he should kill next. Whenever Halloween rolls around this is a must rent movie, or you can just buy it. There is really nothing to say, just that this is the movie that started it all. Whenever you look at a horror movie today, they have all taken ideas from the king of all stalker movies: Halloween

#1 The Shinning
I invited my friends over to watch this movie, neither of us had seen it. We all sit down spread out in my television room. Half-way through the movie we're all sitting on the same couch terrified out of our minds. The scariest movie I have ever seen. Those two little girls in the hall way is the scariest part of any movie I have ever seen. It shows what can happen when someone is isolated in a single place for too long. Jack is unbelievable. I have checked many other lists of movies and this is number 1 on most of them, I wonder why?
