Not the greatest headphones

I wanted to buy a decent set of headphones. What I ended up with was a below average set of headphones. It's extremely difficult to purchase a decent set of headphones without spending an exorbitant amount of money.
The construction seems OK, but a cheap plastic seems weak and fragile. There is a volume control on the cord with a momentary mute button, but this seems to be the weakest link with these headphones. If the cord is yanked a bit the connection can be broken and you're left with a useless piece of junk. "You are the weakest link! Goodbye, headphones."
The nice thing about the cord is that it only enters the headphones at one point, on the left side. So this really helps the cord from being all tangled up if you're constantly putting them on and taking them off. Some might say the cord is too long (over 6'), but with most headphones it seems like you get a short stubby 3' cord. Of course you can get extension cords, but that only makes them more difficult to use.
The headphone cups have a comfortable foam cushion that surrounds your ear. This effectively keeps the sound in, but also keeps sounds around you out. An elastic on the top of your head is very comfortable and unobtrusive, but the elastic looks flimsy and the usefulness of this is questionable.
The sound quality is sufficient for most listeners, although the audiophiles will disappointed. I thought there was way too much low end and not enough high end clarity. This isn't an issue if you've got an equalizer, but with a standard portable CD player there's no way to adjust it.
If I were going to buy another set of headphones, I would probably be willing to spend more and get something more high-end.
