A 'Rush' in Vancouver

The Bottom Line When it comes to Rush, one of the most under-rated bands in the world, seeing them live only solidifies their position in the music world.

The Rush concert at GM Place (Vancouver, BC September 8, 2002) was an unbelievable exhibition of timeless skill. Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neal Peart not only were technically superb, they behaved liked crazed teens on stage. So much for being 49 years old. The crowd went wild with anticipation when Rush started the concert with the Three Stooges routine and exploded into Tom Sawyer. My wife, who is not a big Rush fan, found a completely new appreciation for these guys.

The concert included musical works from the 1970s to their current album. The laser light show was spectacular and was complimented by live video shots of the band as well as themes related to the philosophical nature of Rush lyrics. And of course, there were three coin washing machines on stage. You can leave your imagination to ponder the meaning of the machines. But if you like exceptional sound, meaningful lyrics, and instrumental talent that is out of this world, this is the concert for you.
