The Bottom Line For the cowardly among us ~ Horror movies that involve intellect and imagination rather that bloodshed/violence...Can you say PLOT??

Ive bitten my last poor nail. I've shrieked my last hoarse screech. Ive torn the last threads of my woobie. Ive watched my last horror movie.....

Aesops, Ghouls, Ghosts, Demons, Spooks and Ogre's alike just love me!! They can eirily con me into believing in them. They take me into haunted houses, nightmare forests, clouds of bat-winged circles, creaky stairs, hospital rooms, and silent wood bridges...And I beleive them!!!!

Oh, the unusual stress of being a Wimp. Weak. Doughfaced..

On that note, you will now see why I have chosen my Top 10 Frights on Film..They are smart, clever, action packed, well written, with superb acting, with little to no gore (Not AL) whatsoever. The Smart Persons Choices....

** Warning **

The below mentioned movies are just an invention of a persons imagination. They are not real. They are just shams, deceptions, equivocations, Just A Mere Show, spinning for our entertainment...

*~~ The Others: Nicole Kidman stars in this haunted house mystery as a mother trying to protect her two children from "visitors" invading her privacy, and disrupting her children. What poor Nicole doesnt know is that she has no idea of what reality is about to spring on her....

*~~ The Sixth Sense: Hailey Joel Osmont plays a little clarivoyant boy who sees "Dead People". Bruce Willis plays a child counselor trying to help Hailey thrugh this terrifying "gift". Very lifelike horrors, hits home...

*~~ Lord of the Rings: Living, waking NIGHTMARE!! Excellent, powerful, creative movie. So much so, that you feel like you are dreaming, a bad dream. Part one of a long series, it has a Star Wars approach to storytelling (You have to see part two to "get it"). Visuals terrify you. You will jump out of your seat. Prepare to yell at the screen.

*~~ The Lost Boys: Vampires who ride motorcycles and ride carosels..An all star cast from the two Coreys (Feldman and Haim), Keifer Sutherland, Alex Winter, Edward Herrman..Funny, Dreamy, it keeps your blood running...No pun. Corey Haim pays Sam, whos brother Michael (Jason Patrick) falls for a girl who is a half vampire. Twists, Turns, and many fangs later, We watch young Sam join up with pals to save his brother....

*~~ Stir Of Echoes: Kevin Bacon in ONE of his creepy roles..One night at at party, he is hypnotized, and develops a "gift" of seeing and hearing messages that haunt him into submission, from the "other side". We watch him transform from a average joe to a intense vigalanti who digs up his entire yard to find what his pulse is leading him to..

*~~ What Lies Beneath: Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfieffer as an adorable couple who inhierate a beautiful, nautical home that seems to hvae lights that turn themselves on, and physically try to bother Michelle. Harrison doesnt buy her fears, and tries to derail the conversation everytime it is brought up. But Shell is smart. She begins to research....

*~~ Hollow Man: Six degrees of Kevin Bacon..perhaps it is the boyish looks with the scratchy voice..A scientist who becomes a guinie pig for his own "invisable man" experiment. Something goes wrong during surgery, and he is permanantly scarred with invisability. Elizabeth Shue is great as his ex, and his collegue. Kevin gets a little bitter, and a little scary.....You know whatthat means...

*~~ Disneys Ichabod Crane: Don't laugh! An innocent teacher. A myth. A bridge. A horse. The stroke of midnight. A flaming pumpkin in the hand of a headless horseman..That doesnt frighten the snot out of you? I learned my lesson at age 6 that still exists at 29, this is some scary sh**!! I hate this movie so much I love it. I still shake at the hoof sounds, the heavy breathing of Icabod trying to outrun this spooky woodsman...Hey..If you are so brave..you run out and rent it..I triple horse dare you...

*~~ DragonFly: Kevin Costner he's our man, if he cant spook us, no one can. Kevin has an uncanny talent of being at the wrong place at the wrong time. He is always being taunted by unclear messages that signal him to an unknown world. This time, as Dr. Joe, he grieves the life of his wife and unborn child during an accident on a missionary trip. She was a doctor, and her pediatric patients are trying to get a message from her to him. Spooky afterlife twists and turns. Edge of your seat scenes. Unbelievable twist at end..

*~~ The Shining: saved my fave, Jack Nicolson for last. Granted, I only saw bits and peices of this of this last mentioned, I was peering out from under the covers during most of it. A man. A dad. A writer. Possesed. Big Knives. Mom & kids running. Spooky twin girl goblins on bikes riding around the house. An Ax. Jack's face; peering though a hole in the bathroom door that he just plummeted through, shouting, "It's JOHNNY!!"..Yikes! Eek! I cant take it any more! Its taken a toll on me...watch it yourself if you are so intent on knowing the details! I Quit!!

I am alarmed. Dismayed. In want of confindence. Im scared.

Hope you are too, as this Halloween season approaches. the perfect nesting time for these movies. they are brilliant and unique. Forget Jason and Freddie. Invisible Kevin Bacon will keep you up for weeks. Trust Me.
