The Bottom Line: Rent it for a weekend, or buy it, either way, I assure you that you will find at least SOMETHING good about this film
Jackie Chan has once again managed to pull of an excellent blend of serious plot and hilarious situations in "Drunken Master". This movie places Chan in the role of a young master of a forbidden form of Kung Fu known as "Drunken Boxing", based off of the actual Drunken Monkey Kung fu form. The power of this form is that the more he drinks, the more powerful a fighter he becomes. This obviously has alot of potential for humor, but it also describes the wavering relationship of the hero and his father, who forbade him from ever using the Drunken Boxing form.
The fight scenes in this film are hilarious as well as astoundingly well organized, bringing a level of action to the film that only Jackie Chan can seem to manage.
Overall, The Legend of Drunken Master is a hilarious display of bloodless martial arts action which will keep you captivated as well as amused.
