I had to fill this in. (Reply to this comment)

I liked your review, although I hate FFVIII for reasons I mentioned in one of my reviews, you made a really biased and objective review on a really difficult game to rate. Although there are a lot of things wrong with the game, I will admit there are some aspects that make me want to play it every now and again. Well, that's all I got to say.

My favorite FF game was... (Reply to this comment)

FF7, but I also enjoyed FF6 and FF9 was also a great game. Great review, even though I disagree on a few parts. I personally thought that the characters were bland and not focused enough upon, and that Squall and Rinoa's love story seemed a bit forced. I think that Squall's change in personality was much too sudden and it should have been fleshed out more.

I am surprised that you didn't mention the horror of Drawing magic (that alone added significantly to the overall play time) or the really pointless "flashbacks" to Laguna. Did those segments really add anything to the story?
Squall and Rinoa's budding relationship being a positive in FF8? There was absolutely no chemistry between the two (not surprising since Squall didn't have much of a personality).
(Take a guess as to where I would be standing in that audience.)

Personally my vote is for FF6, no doubt. I don't think I need to explain.

Guess I'll be the first to vote (Reply to this comment)

Here's my vote for my favorite Final Fantasy game of all time: FFIV (that is, FFII on the SNES). Why, you say? Am I on crack, you say? That game is childish! Perhaps. But it was only the second RPG I had ever played, after Dragon Warrior. And it was the first RPG to give me "that special feeling". You know what I'm talking about. The kind of feeling that makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. The feeling that you wake up in the middle of the night with, and want to just say "screw sleep" and start playing the game again. My first video game addiction, but more than that. The first video game that changed the way I thought about RPG's.
It's still fun to go through the storyline, but at 14.5 hours (after so many times), it is kind of short, and you never get back the feeling that you have the first time you play through an RPG. So I guess for "first time playthrough", and for being the game to pop the RPG cherry that Dragon Warrior teased, I would vote FFIV #1.
Needless to say, I am greatly anticipating the release of Final Fantasy Chronicles this summer, which (for those of you who don't know) will have the non-"easy" version of FFIV along with a redone Chrono Trigger (another excellent game). Compared to the SNES version (the "easy" version), it will have more items, more monsters, harder bosses, a re-translated dialogue, and storyline sequences that were cut from the previous version we got. I would never sell my SNES copy of FFIV, but I'm definitely looking forward to playing a newer (for us), better version of it. Who knows, maybe I'll get that special feeling one more time.
