The Bottom Line I *HIGHLY* recommend this site. There are so many items for bid that you will eventually find anything you want. Be careful of "anomolous" prices, though.

Ebay is an absolutely fantastic service! All it takes is a quick search, and you'll realize that you can get absolutely ANYTHING that you want (within the accepted eBay range, of course) on this marvelous service. In fact, eBay is SO popular that nobody will probably even read my humble little opinion on it (oh well... so be it). Just taking a quick look as to what is on eBay *right now*, we have a pentium computer selling for .01$ (hmmm... might be suspicious), "papa smurf" figurines, depression glass, original artwork, etc. Anything you want is there in abundance.
Here's where it gets complicated, though. You can't just expect to go there and get fantastic merchandise at rock bottom prices. As a matter of fact, I'll clue you in to a little secret about the eBay community (I've been trying to figure this out since I started on eBay about 2-3 years ago): sometimes USED items go for more than the retail cost for the same item NEW! As I say, I don't understand the principle that is at work here. I have purchased items from Amazon.com, and decided later that I don't want them. Figuring that I would take a small loss on eBay, I've auctioned these items, and MADE MONEY! To my mind, this makes absolutely no sense.
So, it is important to know your prices if you are going to bid on eBay. You might want to check out what past items have gone for. Also, don't think that you *must* bid on some item, or you'll lose out. Take your time; after all, so many items come on ebay that it will probably only be a week or so (at longest) before another item comes up.
If you are a seller, the opposite rules apply. Make sure you list with the words in the title that someone who wants your item is going to look for. You'll find that you'll get much better responses if you do that. It also helps to state clearly any defects/"quirks"/etc very explicitly in your listing. This saves hassle, both from returns and from question-asking. Overall, I highly recommend this service very highly, provided you are cautious and do your research. Be careful, because you can get burned (I've been burned and learned this the hard way!)
