Remember Lucy? (What do you mean Lucy 'Who'?) Ricardo!! (I Love Lucy).. (Geez People..) :) Remember how she would WAIL when she wouldn't get her way? That is the sound of me. Me watching these movies. Watching these movies alone. Alone because nobody wants to watch them with me. Because I WAIL like Lucy!! (Please refer to the 'Lucy' mentioned above) I am a sappy sucker for sad movies. My lower lip trembles with the best of them. It is almost an Olympic Event, me trying to sit through tear jerkers without sobbing all over myself. And you!! You are probably one of those people that sit in the theater, and *cough*, to distract others who may catch the glimpse of your tear that is just hanging on the edge of your eyeball, dying for you to blink it off. You are the one who *pretends* that there is something in your eye, prying the imaginary peice of nothing out of the corners of your cornea, to prayerfully swoosh the drop of liquid emotion out of public attention. But you dont fool me. I know why you are getting up to use the bathroom. I know why you need a sip of your soda, to swallow down your sadness. I know why you yawn, itch, twitch and take in deep breaths. You dont want to sound like Me. Like Lucy. Well, go ahead. Pretend that your heart has not plummeted when Bobby finally gets his backyard circus! Pretend that you dont feel the connection between Chuck and Wilson!! No, Charlie doesnt steal a tear when he has to say goodbye to Raymond. Liar!! * ~ I AM SAM ~ Sean Penn in his best role yet, as mentally challenged father, Sam Dawson. He has a 7 year old little girl, Lucy, whom gets taken away by the family court system. He hires an attorney (Michelle Pfeiffer)to help him win her back. It is astonishing how this movie, and the characters in it will affect you. The struggles and triumphs of an unfair world, as each character becomes the better for it. * ~ Life As A House ~ Kevin Kline plays George Monroe,a divorced father of Sam (Hayden Christensen) who hates him. After a terminal diagnosis, he decideds to turn the shack on the lake that he lives in, into his dream house that he always promised his ex, Robin (Kristin Scott Thomas) he would build but never did. He wants Sam to stay with him over he summer to help him build it. They do not know he is ill, and Sam doesnt fights it every step of the way. This movie was one of the hardest cries I have ever had... * ~ John Q ~ Denzel Washington, I know how you feel. We all do. At one time or another, we have all been screwed in a hospital, per our medical insurance. John, a devout father to Michael, who drops out on a baseball field with a failing heart, only to find out that he cannot get a transplant because the " insurance doesnt cover it". After the hospital gives him the run around, he takes justice into his own hands... * ~ Beaches ~ Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey: Best friends from a school age vacation on the beach, the pair go seperate ways but remain pen pals, until cultural differences seperate them. They see the best and worst in each other, and find out how much the friendship is really worth.. * ~ CastAway ~ Tom Hanks should have gotten the Oscar. Chuck Noland, Fed Ex Executive, lives and breathes by the clock. Time is his issue in life. So much so, that he still hasnt moved forward with Kelly, (Helen Hunt) who is the love of his life. On Christmas Eve, he has to take a run of packages per airplane overseas for a rush. The plane crashes into the sea, with only one survivor. Chuck. We see the human element in all of us that allows us to survive. We learn whats really important. * ~ StepMom ~ Julia Roberts, 'Isabel', cat fights Susan Sarandon 'Jackie' over 'Luke', Ed Harris, Jackie's Ex and Isabels finace'. Add two beautiful children to the mix who adore Jackie, and despise Isabel. Luke is in the middle between his past and his future. What takes place between Isabel and Jackie, despite the ugliness is a life message. I will never forget the lesson... * ~ My Life ~ Michael Keaton plays workaholic Bobby who is stressed, ignores his relatives, and takes it out on his wife Gail (Nicole Kidman). When Bobby learns of his terminal illness, he also finds out Gail is pregnant with his first and only child. He drops everything to make a video tape of his life, as a keepsake message to his child. This was the most heartwrenching film ever made. Its great. * ~ RainMan ~ Charlie and Raymond Babbit. Brothers torn away from each other due to their fathers lies. Raymond (Dustin Hoffman) an autistic savant is hidden from workaholic, superficial player, Charlie. (Tom Cruise) When dad dies, he leaves Charlie a car, and rose bushes, and leaves Ray 3 million dollars in his will. Charlie seeks him out, only to find out that Ray is his brother. He kidnaps Ray for ransom, but falls in love with him. Sweet, funny and heartbreaking. Charlie learns what family really means.. Honorable Mention: Too many movies to decide the last two... * ~ Titanic ~ Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet * ~ The Patriot ~ Mel Gibson ad Heath Ledger * ~ Ghost ~ Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore * ~ What Dreams May Come ~ Robin Williams * ~ DragonFly ~ Kevin Costner Statistics: Number of Workaholics aboard: 6 Number of Terminal Illnesses: 5 Number of Crashes : 4 Number of Wrongful Deaths : 3 Number of Custody Battles : 2 Number of Island Hoppers : 1 You may need special therapy once you have experience these films.
