I have used Travelocity in the past but this is the first year I actually used the Last Minute Package deal offered through this company. Approximately two weeks before a family gathering in Minnesota, I decided to attend. I went to Travelocity for airfare rates and figured I would arrange for a hotel later. When I went to check airfare, I could not believe how much the prices had changed since the last time I looked at them. This prompted me to look at the Last Minute Packages that Travelocity offered. I was AMAZED at how reasonable the prices to my destination were. I was able to get a 4 day/3 night package WITH hotel (hotel upgrades are offered at an additional price) for LESS than the price of ONE roundtrip airfare ticket. I was skeptical that such a deal was too good to be true but I booked anyway.
Booking through the online system was easy and everything after that point was almost perfect. When I got to the airport, e-tickets were readily available for me and my traveling companion. We were even able to change our seats, based on availability, if we liked. Boarding was no problem. We had one layover but that went as well as expected.
When we arrived to our destination, the hotel that Travelocity had partnered with offered shuttle service so we were promptly picked up from the airport and transported to our hotel. The hotel was full service and had better than expected amenities such as a restaurant, special shuttle service to the Mall of America, gift shop, etc. Our room was clean and customer service great.
The entire trip, for the money, was fantastic. The seats on the plane were tight but for the money I didn't mind not to mention you are given the opportunity to upgrade to business class. The overall trip was a true VALUE!
SIDE NOTES: These last minute deals are just that. There are no guarantees of availability and when they are gone, they are gone. There are limited destinations available but many of the popular destination spots can be found. The plans are usually for scheduling trips that will take place in two weeks or less. They are also based on double occupancy but can be adjusted to a single traveler at a slightly higher price (the hotel price is no longer split between two people).
