Do yourself a favor and go to Newegg.com right now.
I ordered an iPod Nano one evening that was listed on Buy.com's web site as "In Stock". The next morning, my credit card was charged. I assumed from this that my item had been shipped, or at least readied for shipping, and that I would soon be receiving an email that my item would be on its way. No such email ever arrived. A week later, I emailed Buy.com to find out where my item was, as their web site said NOTHING other than that I was charged. Two days later, I received a canned email stating that they only update their web page every 24 hours and they have no way of telling at the time of purchase if an item is actually available. On the other hand, they seem to have gotten their credit card processing system perfected as they had no problem taking my money for an item they have no idea whether they can deliver.
Unfortunately, my wife purchased a separate item from Buy.com the holiday season also, and guess what. She had the EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE with them. Phone support is horrible and they just give you a verbal version of their "say nothing substantial, never apologize, we can't control our own supply, and our website updating system is to blame" as their emails spout.
Buy.com has had problems with the FTC in the past for their deceptive practices and I will do whatever is in my power to see that they get more of the same. I am heading to the Better Business Bureau site now to continue the fight.
