| metsbeliever's Full Review: Comfort Inns and Suites |
I've been to a few different Comfort Inn's over the past few years. I've found them to be slightly better in services and in price then Red Roof Inn (see my review http://www.epinions.com/content_28591820420/tk_~CB005.1.5)
Like Red Roof Inn, Comfort Inn is a chain hotel, so some of the Comfort Inn's vary in what they offer. Most have a restaurant, but some of the smaller roadside ones do not. This goes for things likes pools, shuttle services, and other extras. Before booking a room, if you are interested in these services call Comfort Inn and verify the location you are going to have the services you require.
Room Rates and Reservations
Of course one of the most attractive things about Comfort Inn is the price. Rooms in most locations range from 50 to 70 dollars a night depending of course on the location and room availability. The is a very low for a stay in a quality hotel.
Check-in at the Comfort Inn is a breeze, and the staff is always courteous and friendly.
Comfort Inn offers discounts of approximately 10% to members of AAA and AARP. They currently do not offer any rewards programs at this time.
Reservations can be made via their web site at www.comfortinn.com or by calling (800) 228-5150. When making reservations try to check the web site first. The often have deals that you won't be able to get via the 800 number unless you know about it from the web site.
About The Rooms
The rooms are very spacious in most locations; they contain the standard bed, TV, closet, and dresser. Many locations provide you with a writing table and a few we went to even had a refrigerator.
Whenever I've stayed at a comfort Inn I always found the room to be exceptionally clean, well kept, fully stocked with towels, soap, etc. The beds are always comfortable, so comfortable that sometimes I think the change the mattresses often.
On the television, all locations provide cable TV and video games. The cable TV stations vary depending on the local cable provider for the area, but HBO, Showtime, TBS, TNT, and such national channels are always available. The video game usage does cost extra, and is charged on a per hour basis. This to me is not a big deal since even the larger hotels do this.
Restaraunt/Food Services
The larger Comfort Inns have restaurants in them; I have always found the food quite good, but a bit pricey. I guess they have to make up for that cheap rate somehow.
Small roadside locations that do not have a restaurant do have a vending area where you can get soda, chips, sandwiches and pastries. At least you won't go hungry like at Red Roof!
Hotel Services
The hotel provides the standard courtesy services such as maps, directions, tourist info, etc. What is really nice is that locations near major attractions always have a free shuttle bus service to get there. That saves a lot on cabs, or can just simply save you the hassle of driving in a city your not familiar with.
Location and Parking
Comfort Inns are located all over the United States, unfortunately they are not as popular as some of the other larger chains, so they can be a bit hard to find if you are just driving down the highway looking for a place to stay.
I have always found parking to be plentiful enough to handle all of the guests comfortably. My only gripe is some locations the spots are too close together and the lot is a bit cramped.
Staff and Management
In my opinion this has always been the biggest asset that Comfort Inn has. No matter the time of day I always get a courteous and respectful check in, with a smile too! Which of course makes me smile even after a long trip. The maid service is exceptional and the management will bend over backwards to please you.
I really don't know what their hiring process is, but some of the other hotels should really find out, because what ever it is, it works great!! When you leave you'll leave with a smile!
Overview
Simply this is a great little place to stay. Does it have all of the amenities of the Hilton, of course not. For $50-70 a night you have to be realistic. What it does have is more services then most hotels, a nice clean well kept room and a courteous and respectful staff! This is my second favorite economy hotel in the country. My favorite is Hampton Inn, but they don't beat them by much.
