Deceptive advertising

Written: Dec 10 '06
Pros:None re: this color. The lighter shades are ok.
Cons:Deceptive "one step" advertising; picture on can also misrepresents results.

This product is prominently advertised as one step. However, it is anything but.

The directions state at least two coats are required with sanding! in between.

A single coat, despite thorough mixing, looks bad on any wood.

I'm going to back to regular stain. I'd much rather stain twice and then apply poly than stain, sand and stain. An extra coat of stain takes less time than sanding. And some stains don't require two applications, thereby completing the process in two steps rather than Polyshades' three.

In addition, not that this product won't work with wood that is carved in anyway since you can't sand inside the carvings.
