I Have a Friend in Trouble

The Bottom Line A friend feels she let us down, and I miss her horribly.

I have a friend in trouble;
She’s sinking below the waves.
I am desperate to rescue her,
But she doesn’t want to be saved.
I swam out to where she is sinking
And held out my hand for her to grasp.
Instead, she turned and faced the other way,
And sank a little more.
I have a friend in trouble;
I don’t know what to do.
I wrapped a rope around her,
And pulled her to the shore.
Yet she seems to still be sinking
Even on dry land.
I have a friend in trouble;
She’s sitting safely on the sand,
But refuses to look at me or
Acknowledge the dry land.
I have a friend in trouble;
She ashamed that she fell into the waves.
I am afraid she is gone forever,
And nothing will be the same.
