RECOVER MY FILES - DIDN'T!

Written: Dec 13 '06
The Bottom Line: Get a backup drive like I did so this never happens to you again. Buy two new internal hard drives too. They are not expensive now.

RECOVER MY FILES

My Maxtor SATA hard drive crashed on a 2 year-old
Dell desktop computer. I loved the idea of being
able to recover the data. I had tried everything you
would normally do to get data off a bad IDE drive.
Run it as slave etc. Nothing helped. I searched
the web and found that I could download RECOVER MY FILES
for a fee.

They may have improved it by now, but I doubt it.
I bought this on line last year for $67.00 and I see
that the price is lower now.

The software said it would recover files from
a crashed SATA Hard Disk Drive. It did that BUT you
should be aware that (in my case at least) - there
were some problems and limitations. If you can live
with them you will do fine.

This is how it worked for me:
It took three days to get the files. NOT all of them
were recovered. EVERYTHING that was in the folders
under MY DOCUMENTS were * unrecoverable. *

Also - most of the files that WERE recovered had
useless names like -
Recovered_File000055.gif
or
Recovered_File000055.txt

So I had no idea what anything was and who has
the time to open and view 350,000 files looking
for something. Try searching through and renaming
25,000 PDF files this afternoon!

Your experience might be better with this product
but I was very unhappy with it and I would not
have spent the money that I did if I had any idea
of how limited it would be.
