I ordered a rather expensive (more than $1,000.00)fishfinder from BoatersWorld.com The site was easy to navigate and initially I felt confident that I had ordered through a competent and reputable company. However...
When the order arrived we realized that we had been sent the wrong version of the fishfinder (there were two versions of the same model, a lesser expensive version and a more expensive version). We had been charged for the more expensive model (which was the one we had ordered online) but they had sent us the lesser expensive model. There was more than a $200 difference between the prices in the two versions and the price of the more expensive model had been already charged to our credit card. The invoice as well as my online records showed that the order had been placed correctly, but obviously something had gone awry in their warehouse when they filled the order.
I immediately contacted their service department regarding the error using their online chat area. I was first told to contact the manufacturer (why would I do that? The fishfinder was in perfect condition, it was just the WRONG fishfinder... the fault was BoatersWorld.com, NOT the manufacturer). I was then told that BoatersWorld.com would need to check with their warehouse and that they would get back with me ASAP via email. The next day I sent a formal email to their service department (using the email address provided on the invoice) just for the sake of being thorough. Three days later I had still heard nothing from BoatersWorld.com so I decided to go back to the service department online assistance chat area and follow up. I was told that they were still waiting for an update from their warehouse. How many days does it take to get an update from their warehouse??? And how difficult is it to simply send an emailing to assure me that they were looking into the problem and would get back to me ASAP??? This I asked of the customer service representative and I was told that perhaps it would be better to contact their customer service department via telephone(!).
We are still with the wrong fishfinder (which we are unable to use because we need the more expensive version to fit our needs) and still have not heard from BoatersWorld.com This afternoon I will call again to try and figure out how this can be resolved, but my faith in this company has been lost. I will never again order from BoatersWorld.com and I discourage others from doing so as well (unless they want the headache of dealing with them).
