Pros:Looks cool, fast
Cons:Expensive, people hate macs
The Bottom Line: Sure I've had lots of trouble and macs are expensive, but they look so cool and work so well (usually)!
I knew I needed a new computer. I had to decide if I was going to get another mac or a PC. PCs generally are just a load of trouble. Things stop working randomly, everything requires driver updates and all that stuff, and overall it's just a lot more complicated than it needs to be. Plus, everything is plain gray. I like mac platinum look better.
I was going to get a new mac when they released the newer ones back in February or something. I had to get a new one right away because my sister just decided that she was going to take mine to college and I had no say in that decision. So I went to the store and bought the base model plus some extra ram and a 17" monitor.
I started setting everything up as soon as I got it all home. The first thing I did was cut my finger wide open on one of the monitor's sharp edges. Watch out!
Setup was easy. Was up and running within minutes.
Apple released newer hardware very soon after I bought this system. I knew that would happen, but I was forced into buying the system anyway.
When RAM was cheaper, I bought some more and popped it in. Worked fine. Literally took 15 seconds to install, thanks to the swinging door on the side of the tower. I also bought a SCSI card and a SoundBlaster and a larger hard drive, all of which worked as soon as I installed them.
This is why I like my mac better than PCs. When you try to install things on PCs, it's somewhat of an ordeal. Windows tries to auto-install all the drivers you need, but it ends up complicating things to death sometimes.
After a couple months of use my DVD stopped working, my power button stopped working (but since there is a power button on the monitor, it can be used to turn on the computer as well). I took the computer in to the place I bought it, and all of the problems were fixed for free. That's what a 1 year warranty does for you.
