Pros: Comfortable, reliable, it has to be good for me to take it for granted!
Cons: Track ball could be a little smoother.
The Bottom Line: I would highly recommend this trackball. When I find something I like I generally have to buy several as they usually take the things that work well off the market.

This is a trackball I have owned for a year now. I notice most reviews are done when it is a new purchase and that giddy feeling is still running strong so the glowing review is due more to the buyer rationalizing their purchase whether good or bad. Well I am here to tell you this trackball is reliable and has no flaws to speak of and it is used everyday for several hours a day.
When I purchased this I was already a veteran of the Logitech USB Marble Mouse trackball which I love as well and have reviewed here: Logitech Marble Mouse.
The transition wasn't too difficult as both have basically the same form factor and both have the left/right buttons with the ball in the center. The ball on the Kensington (Where did the ACCO name come from I see on this review list?) Orbit Optical is a cool graphite grey color kind of metallic a random pattern so the optic can pick up and track the movement. It is also a bit bigger than the one used on Logitech's Marble Mouse. I do like the smoothness of the Logitech much better as it glides like it is running on bearings. The Kensington feels like it is scraping plastic on plastic, not good. After a year of use the plastic on plastic feeling has subsided some, but it is still not as smooth as the Logitech.
The software has quite a bit of functions to custom assign the buttons and set for auto-scroll speed etc. I prefer the Kensington without the software installed as I don't need to customize the buttons for anything. Also when I tried to install the Kensington software, it seemed the mouse movement was more erratic than the standard Microsoft drivers.
For people who want a pointing device/mouse/trackball to help alleviate wrist pain can find comfort in knowing these are ergonomically designed to relieve stress that can happen in wrists while using a mouse. The arched top of the Kensington lends to the natural shape of your palm, so say goodbye to carpal tunnel syndrome or any wrist pain/stress due to long use of a mouse.
I like the fact that this (also like the Logitech)is set up for ambidextrous use. I am left handed by nature but can use this comfortably in either hand which is also a good thing to do, to prevent any stress from overuse if you spend hours upon hours at your computer.
My last wish is to purchase another one before they decide to stop making them. I think they stopped making that wireless optical Expert (the black Kensington with 4 huge buttons), so maybe this is the time to stock up?
I have taken this for granted for over a year, but to me that is testament to it being a well designed product. Normally I find the flaws of a product and they always seem to overshadow the pros. So 3 Cheers for Kensington!!!
