Take the time to be your own travel agent. Plan your trip from start to finish, and you can save half!

Wow! That's so great.

I'm not "yet" the extensive traveler than you seem to be, but my friend & I have been trying to plan a trip to Europe for about a month, and the cost is just insane, so the trip is constantly postponed.

Perhaps your ideas and knowledge will help, I'll be looking into those sites you listed, thanks for the info.

Well my point is, if you had a travel agent plan this trip it would probably be 200% over what I did it for. Epinions doesn't pay me much for writing, but I can make money by saving money on travel. Thanks for leaving a comment. Merriem

The Rand is severely devalued against the Dollar. When I hear about my German cousins visiting South Africa... I know it is a travel bargain. And what a place to visit for wine enthusiasts!!!

It is really amazing how much better you can do on your own. Always asking for a better rate, contacting hotels directly, using every chance to earn FF miles.......it keeps us traveling.

Thanks for sharing. Actually, if you subtract your normal living costs for a month (you'd still be buying food at home, etc), this is an even better bargain, of course!

Nice, very helpful review.

All the best!
