As I have mentioned in my previous epinion on Aluminum Foil, my husband likes to barbeque. No, make that LOVES to barbeque.
Ever since we found out that Oregon may be having a problem with electricity this summer, my husband has become obsessed with cooking on his barbeque. (Trust me, it's his barbeque, he will not let me near that thing.) He already used the barbeque a lot, but now it's close to an everyday type thing.
When someone mentions the word barbeque, what do you usually think of? To me, a barbeque brings to mind a warm summer day. The kids are playing in the backyard. Mom is getting the table and the rest of the meal ready. And Dad, well Dad is standing at the barbeque with his chef hat, apron and spatula. He's flipping those big, juicy hamburgers with a silly grin on his face. There might also be some friends or relatives who are joining in on the lovely day. Doesn't that sound something like what a barbeque should look like?
Well, at my house, a barbeque is at any time of the year. My husband will stand outside under the patio in the sun, the wind, the rain, and yes, even snow. (Maybe he should work at the post office, LOL). The man is crazy! He doesn't care if he's freezing, the barbeque is more important to him. I think he loves that grill more than football.
I may grumble about his obsession, but I don't really mind that he likes to barbeque so much. It doesn't leave a mess in the kitchen that I have to clean up. That's always a plus!
He doesn't stick to just hamburgers, chicken, and hotdogs though. He has branched out. He now cooks pretty much everything on the grill. Bisquits, vegetables, pasta, chili, soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and whatever else he can think of. The only thing I have really HATED was the pasta. No matter how he tries to barbeque it, it always comes out mushy, slimy, and tasting like it's overcooked.
Most people enjoy their food after it's been grilled, but my family (or just my husband) must be in love with it.
I can hardly wait to find out what's for dinner tonight....!
