Dangerous Music Video!!! (Reply to this comment)
by AinsleyJo
Talk about some of those musical videos of today being dangerous!!!
That Marlboro commercial could also be considered a dangerous music video with its beautiful music, lovely scenery, and the good-looking, laid-back cowboy on his horse with the former lighting up.
Cigarette-promoting or not, that was one beautiful commercial.
It would be nice if there could be the same scenario today--but, instead of lighting up, the cowboy would drink a bottle or can of a healthy Arizona beverage!!!
I love nostalgic things like this!!!
Hugs!

MEMORIES, MEMORIES, SO COOL! (Reply to this comment)
by JAGUARDOG
Carol, thanks ever so much for the trip down memory lane. Its funny as soon as I started reading a lot of old commercials ran through my head. As I scrolled down to read more I wondered if any of the ones that suddenly came to me out of nowhere were in your review or at least in your set. How long in time is this 4 DVD Set, does it say, Ive very interested and differently want to own it. Here are some that came to mind as I read through your review, Let HERTZ, put you in the Drivers Seat Today, N.E.S.T.L.E.S., NESTLES Makes The Very Best, C H O C O L A T E, Brylcreme a Little Dab will do you
.. Theyll Love to put there Fingers Through Your Hair, See The U S A in a Chevrolet
. (With Dinah Shore dropping out of the clouds into the drivers seat of a already moving Convertible), Plop, Plop, Fizz, Fizz. Oh what a relief it is
.(Alka Seltzer). How about musical commercials with no talking like the Teaberry Shuffle (that gum was great and still available some places as I have a whole case I keep in my desk at work I ordered from peppermintpalace.com) or No Matter What Shape Your Stomachs In. I could go on and on, such fond Memories. How about a Detailed Part 2, thanks, Ron?

I agree about the cig commercials. Too much of a bad influence on children. I'm glad they took these off air. Wish they'd take them off movies too. I watched a a tv show the other night where they kept showing someone smoking and making jokes about lighting up. Sick! another interesting review Lark.

I do appreciate the comments. I love hearing from you all. I'm glad Epinions added this category.
I would like to know the name of the lady who danced in that cigarette commercial though.

Thanks for sharing. Actually though, I liked the cigarette commercials. Then, at least. Later in life, I knew one of the women who had danced in the cigarette pack. She never wanted anyone else to know she did it, so my lips are sealed.

I feel older that over the hill. Down Memory Lane again and do you know what? I kind of like that idea. As Christopher Robin said "I wish I were 6 again" Me too for at least a week. Oh the fun I'd have!

"Over the hill" parties... (Reply to this comment)
by katybrighteyes
Waaaahhhh!!! I have one of those just around the corner! Amazing how, as soon as I read the name of a product you mentioned, the "jingle" popped into my head as if I'd heard it only yesterday. Man, are we getting old or what???
I wondered if two of my most memorable commercials are in the collection: The first featuring the "Shake & Bake" kids (oh, those fake Southern accents! LOL), and the second being the one for "Fizzies." Who could forget that cartoon kid with the stuffy nose asking, "Can I have a glass of water, please?"
Enjoyed this review!

When I was in highschool, I came across a magazine from the 70's with an ad for a shampoo that was actually called "Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific!"
I became obsessed with the ads for this shampoo, I couldn't get enough of them, they were so amusing! And so was this review!

. . . there was at least one young, attractive set of Doublemint Twins that would appeal to any viewer.
Sadly, most of them are now my age or older.
:-)
Nicely done.

This set does sound wonderfully kitsch, and naff, and all those other good things :) Wholesome and clean...or is that just the way they appeared on the surface? Anyway, nice job!
