Tom,
Your father sure was the type to make his son proud.
Best wishes for your brother.
Loved the review.

Very moving (Reply to this comment)

I have visited Arlington and have seen many graves of and memorials for famous veterans there. But perhaps most meaningful to me were the thousands of others whose names were unknown to me both there and at other veteran's cemeteries. Each one had a story; a story I will never know. But now I know your dad's story. Thank you for sharing it with us.

As always, your articles are good! (Reply to this comment)

Thank you for letting me know about your personal history of your father at the beginning of the article. My grandfather, actually both of them, fought in WW2, and I can't even imagine what they witnessed, and had to put up with.
I might not want to be in the service, but I highly respect soldiers for what they do. As well, I respect other professions: doctors, cops, teachers, minimum wage workers,etc... Everyone does there part.
Best,
matthewn

A lot of people view these holidays as just a day off work- or as a bother because banks, postal services, etc. are closed. You gave us a very important reminder inside of a great tribute to your pops.
Nice one

I'm assuming that you saw the article n yesterday's LA TIMES about this cemetery. Very moving, especially the photographs of the veterans lined up waiting for the next hearse.
Thanks -

This was very inspiring. Your father certainly was young when he died.
I know he did a great job, Tom, he'd sure be proud of you.
