| ratethis's Full Review: Dell Dimension XPS B800 |
Bought the XPS B800 6 months ago (before prices plummeted!) No major problems with it so far. The blower fan is noisy as heck, and sometimes I shut it down at night to get some peace and quiet.
The machine is fast, though (I got the 256K RAM and 800 MHz Intel P3).
My right speaker stopped working this week, for no apparent reason. (I should have upgraded, rather than taking the Altec Lansing speakers).
I bought the machine for video editing, but the software is impossible to figure out, even after trying to learn it through Dell's e-learning program (which took forever to load and run, so I bagged it.)
Dell's customer service is really poor. They are great BEFORE you buy the machine -- you can get a SALES rep immediately. But try to get a SUPPORT rep AFTER you bought the machine -- good luck.
I guess I would buy another one, but I would rather buy an HP or something from CDW, Insight.com or some other company that answers the phone after you cut the check.
