LASIK Eye Surgery - Don't Be A Wuss! It's A Piece of Cake!
by kristinafh | Nov 14 '02
Best surgery I ever went through. Over 2 1/2 years later, I still highly recommend it.

Hi Sal,

It's bizarre to see you leave this comment because I was just thinking about this two days ago!

My eyes are still doing great. In fact, I initially had some dryness issues with my eyes but those have totally disappeared. Sometimes, I forget that I ever had to wear glasses and contacts!

I see it's been several years now since you've had this done. How are your eyes now? Would you still have the procedure done today? I'm considering having this procedure done, just waiting for the $$ now.

More details about the need for an enhancement one year later would have made it MORE informative. Still, a good account of what you went through intially. Thanks for your Epinion and glad you were happy with the results.

I just came from an evaluation for Lasik.

I have tons of stuff to read now, but it was great hearing the scoop from someone I know.

Take care,

...from the inside...Outstanding, and informative review!! I have been debating with myself for the last year, about whether or not to get this surgery. I have, hate, hate wearing glasses almost 24/7, but I also drive a lot at night, so I can not afford to have the surgery make night driving impossible; I have heard a few stories of this happening.

Thanks for writing this!

I forwarded this to my sister, who I think should do this, and has been told she is a perfect candidate. I think your honest approach to what it was like will be helpful to her!

Lasik Surgery (Reply to this comment)

Kristina,

Great Review! I had Lasik Surgery about 2 years ago at TLC in Atlanta. My result sounds similar to yours! I now have 20/20 vision, which was off the charts prior to surgery. I also had to go back one year later for an enhancement, but since that time...smooth sailing! I am very happy with my result and highly recommend Lasik Surgery, but strongly warn people to check out the facility and doctors. I have heard some horror stories. Take care. Sheila

the money I'd get this done in a heartbeat. I'm so sick of being blind without my glasses -- and since Brandon was born I've developed allergies which have kept me from wearing my contacts. Grrrr!

Thanks for all the info!

She is diabetic and had major problems. My husband is also diabetic, and this has put him off. When he asked his doctor about it, he really didn't recommend it for him.

I wish I could do this! I am far-sighted and if I remember correctly, Lasik is for those who are near-sighted. BUT I did hear recently that there is a NEW procedure that is for us far-sighted folk... gotta check into that! Been wearing glasses since I was TWO and contacts since I was 12! UGH!

Lasik for Christmas for years. STill, no luck. Anyway, hubby (and his perfect vision) are finally considering this for me. I've also been minus sight since about age 8 and also have been for the past 10 years or so unable to read the E. People laugh and question why I would be willing to have something done on purpose like this...I personally just want to be able to wake up on a lazy morning and not have to put glasses or contacts on or in.

I know you understand...oh, and the fact is that we'll be saving moolah over time NOT having to pay for all the contact supplies (Aosept is EXPENSIVE) and glasses stuff.

Nice job.
Shelly.

You did a great job of describing the procedure and your before/after vision. It sure makes it sound tempting. My wife and I both are considering Lasik surgery, but we're always skeptical. There's still about a 4% rate of catastrophic failure. That doesn't sound like much, but with the number of Lasik surgeries going on these days, it still adds up to a lot of folks who walk away with greatly reduced vision or no vision at all. It scares the hell out of me.

Glad this worked for you! I think my eyes are too extreme.

Last I heard though, it is illegal to promise lifetime commitments. I think we know how long "lifetime" lasts for some companies!
