Wow. In two comments in a row I acquired too very important assets- Compassion and principles. This must be my lucky day. I just hate to see anyone get the fuzzy end of the lollypop without a good reason. Posting one offensive review is not good enough for me.

Me? Compassionate? ....yes, maybe. But this issue just has more to do with the idea of a private fight with another member leading to the blocking of another member. To me, the differences in points of view is what makes the site interesting to stay in. If we all wrote the same way, about the same things, what fun would that be? Or more importantly, why would anyone else want to come here? Thanks for your kind words. jude

I haven't been up to date on why this member got ticketed but it must be unfairly or else you wouldn't be writing about it.

YOU are not one of the censors-who ever decided to go back 16 months in search of a reason to report Lobstergirl is. Rating OT is fine,who ever felt the need to act petty and seek revenge-simply because they disagreed with the panty review-is at fault. Rating is part of this site-engaging in a witch hunt to get someone tossed off the sight should not be.
Rate as you feel-that's not what caused this fuss,

We need someone to champion causes and I believe along with you. I may hate something someone writes, but they sure as heck have as much right to write it as I have to write religious stuff that some people may not like but do not censure me for. Now was that a sentence, or what?

Shantel-like, you seem to be missing the point, Jo. WHY can't you fight for the cause? Nobody -- I'm guessing least of all Lobstergirl -- cared about people rating it OT. It was off-topic. You want to play by the rules, that's fine, mostly I do too. The problem all along was that people didn't think an OT was enough; they had to leave nasty little comments about how insensitive she was being to the poor victims of the sniper attacks, as though knowing a shooting victim suddenly renders one omnipresent ... as though the families of those people might come across a granmapanty review this week and want to jump off a building because someone noted that, hey look, the profilers were wrong about who the snipers were.
It was totally fine for you to note that you don't find LG funny. It's unfathomable, but even that it fine. What wasn't fine, as far as I was concerned, was that people thought they had a right to scold her. It's unclear to me whether or not you were ratifying Shantel and Cal's sentiment in that regard, but I like to think you were merely noting that the review was unfunny and off-topic. And if that were the case, given the high level of respect the community has for you, one would think you could come to LG's defense on the issue of her being completely banned from the site.
One would think.

I agree with jo that whoever went on this little vengeance trip is a scumbag in the first degree, a petty, deceptive, worthless twat who really needs to be exposed for what she is.
Well, those aren't exactly jo's words, but I'm sure she'd agree since she has such a good idea who the offending party is.

Jo, I know you better than to think you had a part of this vengeance rap. I am, as usual supporting a CAUSE. I really don't know the writer, nor did I read the review. But it irks me that I CANNOT READ THE REVIEW. It strikes me once again how easy it is to screw someone over for personal reasons-but that extends to most areas of life, not just Epinions. However, I have always believed if you aren't part of the solution, and let it happen, then you get to be part of the problem. So I could not stay safely on the sidelines, as I wanted to do. After all I have a family tradition to uphold.
I think you should have the right to rate a review whatever way you want, and you shouldn't be harrassed for it. It is an INDIVIDUAL choice, and as important as the right to voice an unpopular opinion. Don't let it get to you.

Have you ever tried Wasabi Tuna? Scrumptious! I bet Lobstergirl has plenty of time to indulge in seafood now that the nasties have taken his/her pen from hand. I too support this protest without having read that much of Lobstergirl's work. It is indeed the principle of the thing. Thanks for taking the time to write your poem.
If just one person puts Lobstergirl on their profile page...no big deal. But if we gradually get everyone at Epinions to do it...maybe a small revolution will succeed in changing the very small mind/minds who deleted this writer from our midst. Or maybe not. But it's worth a try.
