Pros: Easy to set up. Decent sound for the price.
Cons: crappy remote. Weak subs.
The Bottom Line: The Aiwa HT-D590 is a great first-time home theater system because it delivers the goods at a very reasonable price. Audiophiles look elsewhere.

I've never had an opportunity to buy a *real* home theater system before and i'm quite pleased to say that this AIWA hit the spot.
It's very easy to set up, connecting components and speakers are intuitive (i didn't have to read the instructions, but i don't recommend this for everyone) and it will just take you 20 to 30 minutes to properly set this up.
Once it was set up, I immediately plugged in my PlayStation 2 to try it with my games and my DVD movies. 120 watts is no laughing matter. I've never played my games before where i'd look around for the monsters... the surround system is just great! I really thought they were behind me. Movie wise, it delivered the sound that I was expecting from a *real* home theater system.
I'm no audiophile, but there are some kinks in this product.
First of all, I like bass, and the supplied 50 watt active subwoofer doesn't deliver the goods. This is easy to rectify with a better sub though. Speakers are so-so and i tried using speakers from my dad's set up and my AIWA sounded like a million bucks... oh well, at least i can save up for nice speakers next time. Finally, why does the remote have to feel and look sooooo CHEAP. I'm actually embarrassed to show the remote!
