| bjamin2002's Full Review: AOpen Slot 1 AX6BC Motherboard |
This motherboard worked great for me. I built my computer by buying each part off the internet. This was the motherboard that I chose. It's a good quality motherboard, thick and sturdy. The AOpen brand is also very good. They provided many BIOS updates, which were easy to install. It worked great with my Promise Ultra 66 card and with multiple versions of Linux. It has plenty of room for expansion with its 5/2/1 configuration and 4 dimm slots. AOpen claims that it will run a 133 mhz FSB but I have not tried that. I have been running mine with an old Celeron 366 Slot 1 for quite some time. The only problem that I have with it is its power saving features don't seem to work. It might just be my configuration, but I couldn't ever get them to work. Things like the Wake-On-Timer and suspend mode have been shaky all along, and I've never gotten the Suspend-To-Hard-Drive feature to work.
Overall, it's a good board, as long as you have Win 98 or higher. It didn't work with Win 95 too well.
