(end Introduction)

MY FAVORITE HARDCORE SONGS VOLUME. ONE

NEGATIVE APPROACH- "Can't Tell No One "
-N.A. were sick of talk and ready to fight.. one of thee best pi**ed off fast noise acts from the motor city. "Can't Tell No One " has the cue'd perfect gang vocals that are immortalized through the youth bands of today.. and even the length of this song.. amazing.. raw, fast, and together.

BAD BRAINS- "How Low Can A Punk Get? " (from Black Dots)
- Song starts with the "Here comes the hometown football team... and look at that HR is quarterback (but I thought he would be a dimeback... nevermind). This song has some of the most perfect vocal harmonies ever.. "Ah-Ah-Ah " HR is all over the place.. and the Doc Know is reving the "Banned in D.C. " punks up for an overkill.

BAD BRAINS- "Pay To Cum "
- Ok you know the deal.. Bad Brains rock... this song.. it blows my mind everytime I hear it.. nothing else needs to be said about this.

GOVERNMENT ISSUE- "Sheer Terror " (from "Make an Effort ")
- The intro to "Sheer Terror " goes as follows... the cynical villain laughter of John Stabb pollutes the speakers and the band only begins to Ha...Ha.. Ha... ooooo...hahahahahaha... a noise here and a noise there.. pretty soon you are barricaded with a pressure unlike anything a peer could give you.. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! "I hate you and all your sorts! " and man they did this song in so many different ways and versions, but you know what this is a classic.

Government Issue- "Rock & Roll Bullsh*t "
- John Stabb doing what he did best.. act like an on-purpose annoying smart-a**. I adore G.I. as they are close to one my favorite bands of all time, and this song just proves it "Whoa.. kick a** rock and roll.. whoa man I need a bong man, I need some drugs.. wow this rock & roll bullsh*t is good man.. I'm getting f**ked up wow man wow. "

LOS CRUDOS- "That's Right we're that Spic Band "
- "Thats right motherf**ker " Now heres a declaration.. and yea Los Crudos they told you so, in 37 seconds (this song is a wicked burn to those who are not "in the know "). The Intensity and Marc's throat must be as sore as my nintendo thumbs. This song is fast enough for you to miss if you do not pay attention close enough (I am too cliche with choosing the favorite songs.) Bullsh*t!!

SS DECONTROL - "Get It Away "
- True Story, I used to smoke... yea hold the negative criticism for a second because I am going to tell you about how this song helped me quit.
Springa rips his mic to a bloody shred spitting out his outspoken stance on his take of the straight edge (militia-slap-that-beer-out of your hand-style)... This song is like someone robbing you at an ATM machine.. you can't help but agree (rob someone for some easy money) and theres nothing you can do about it.. "Get It Away " is the anthem for the kids to take a highchair to everyone who smokes (they are the lesser-thans).. I recently saw a New Jersey Band (by the name Of TEAR IT UP) cover this song in a brutal tradition of "I'm fine, so how's your edge (way)?" and "Don't you dare steal my air.. cause I care... "
and thats how I quit.

HERESY- "Network Ends "
-Alright it's go time... once that UK thrash storms through in its dadda-dadda true fashion, you are like, " Man I thought Men that were from the UK, were natural-born sissies. " Well then take that head out of your a**(RIPCORD, NAPALM DEATH, DISCHARGE, AMEBIX are sissies that will seriously kick your a** while your head is still buried in it.) "Network Ends " is like the song they play at the opening of hunting season, just before the men go out to kill the dear. Ha, no but really.. HERESY are the greatest thing out of UK.. and this song proves it!

MINOR THREAT- "In My Eyes "
-True Story, I got pulled over while this song was playing. Turns out MINOR THREAT aid me in getting speeding tickets (doing 30 over the speed limit).. thanks MINOR THREAT for rocking so hard that I got pulled over for it (the cop was probably an ABBA fan.. or he likes to touch himself to garth vader brooks or whatever.. oink oink!). In a way this song is like a car. The car starts off nice and easy just cruising and slowly picks up the pace.. only to slow down again.. and then the car just lets loose... ok.. wait.. maybe my car is the only one that does that.
"WHAT THE F*CK HAVE YOU DONE? "

MINOR THREAT- "Filler "
-The most addicting chorus. "Filler- you're full of religion, you're full of sh*t ". Just like the BAD BRAINS "pay to cum " you can't say too much about this classic (that hasn't already been said).

GORILLA BISCUITS- "gorilla Biscuits "
- Masters of the breakdown.. this song would go on later to be the stepping stone for every youth edge kid to start a band in honor of GORILLA BISCUITS' sound & image. Lyrical there is nothing special to this song.. its so fast and the youth can be heard through monkey noises (oh, excuse me Gorilla noises) and then you get two cents from the remaining members of the band, this song is mad-crazy!!
"GORILLA BISCUITS to your head! One more time and you'll be dead!! "

IN/HUMANITY- "We're sick of Music and We Hate Each Other"
- No secret "History Behind the Mystery: Music to kill yourself by " is one of the most dark and best hardcore LP's of my generation.. and the song "We're sick of Music and We Hate Each Other" displays the bands final farewell.. by doing so "F**k you Chris Bickel.. F**k you Paul Swason.. F**k you Will Z.... F**k you Ben Roth.. F**k you F**k you etc..etc.. what a great way to end a good run. Although my favorite IN/HUMANITY song is "Me and My Shadow ".

LIFE'S BLOOD- "Never make a Change "
- Screw that wasted attitude.. that feedback introduction and then the rumble takes its course. This song has got some educated guitars talking up a storm. Snarling vocal approach and LIFE'S BLOOD are f**king incrediable.

BLACK FLAG- "Police Story "
- Alright you got me.. I am not the biggest BLACK FLAG fan but I enjoy a lot of their material like for instance "Police Story ".
"Understand it we are fighting a war that we can not win.. they hate us.. we hate them." One of the best Declaration F**k the cops songs ever.. and BLACK FLAG at what I think was their best.

GANG GREEN- "Have Fun "
- You can not help but go bonkers when you hear "Wejustwannahavefun-Wejustwannahavefun!!" along with the crazy lead.. this song goes right by (50 seconds..) but of all the GANG GREEN songs I enjoy this one the most, it shows off that true crazy jerk-off thrash they started out with.. and an amazing testment to how much GANG GREEN owned and rocked!

DYS- "More than Fashion "
- To the Boston Crew of 82 the Straight Edge meant so much and was so more.. for instance we talked earlier about SS DECONTROL'S Militious stance on the life choice.. (some of the stories and rumors could seriously make you laugh so hard it could cause permanent hiccups).. anyway.. so here comes the roadies to start a band they name it DYS (department of youth services) and dave smalley heads the "Wolfpack " into fiery aggression, which is best represented in this song "More than Fashion ". "Straight Mind.. Razor Edge!! " What does the SXE mean to you?

NECROS- "Conquest for Death "
- Everytime I hear this song I get chills and shivers down my spine. which is a good thing... but I suppose to be a man and not get such emotions which is ironically what (for the most part) this song is about. NECROS.. I love the NECROS.. they played that BLACK FLAG influenced hardcore and then they found their sound with this Album (also called "Conquest for Death ").

NECROS- "Sex Drive "
- If I was in a band... I would make everyone love this song, because we will cover it and play it out like crazy. The lyrics are so dumb but so enjoyable. Drive by my house and you might see me through the window jumping off the walls screaming,"Stupid Wh*re all i want is more more more!! ". Fast and bouncy and dangerously catchy... Godamnitt I love the NECROS!!!

ARTICLES OF FAITH- "Every Day "
- This song is so right... and I would of picked "I've got mine " or "False Security " but "Every Day " is the song that means the most to me. The Chicago Lefty Thrash Bandits tell the already told story but through a dark, cold, and chilling grim presepective of what life means when all emotion starts to take its leave of abscense... I compare this song to the Albert Camus' work "The Stranger ".. and the intro to this song.. it scares the life out of me.

VOID- "Black, Jewish, and Poor "
- The darkness heart of (har)DC(ore). I absolutely enjoy the lyrical writing on this particular song. "Nothing's left for free.. plus I got no money.. government's on my a**.. oh sh*t I better move fast.. ". This song points the finger at discrimination of people based on race/ religion/ economic stance.. very well written and like all other VOID songs this one smokes!!

NINE SHOCKS TERROR- "Attack with a Gasmask "
- The first NINE SHOCKS TERROR song I ever heard.. Bringing Mr. Rogers into hardcore is one of the best ideas since Ray Cappo decided to co-form SHELTER ( Ha Ha that is a very bad joke, SHELTER lose at life !!) anyway back to what I am talking about, Mr. Rogers has the introduction to this song and then its all balls to the wall as NINE SHOCKS TERROR blast your a** to some good old Japanese flashbacks and wet dreams of LIP CREAM and GAUZE. This song destroys!!!

DICKS- "Kill From the Heart "
- It's hard but its Gary Floyd and Co at their most melodic! The most catchiest song ever made.. I sing this in my sleep.. I sing it to people when they are talking to me.. I sing it when I am making out with a girl.. whatever.. you get the point. "It's from the heart.. and you need to be Shot!" You gotta love the DICKS!

There are a ton of bands and songs missing from this list (Like: The Teen Idles, The Faith, Infest, S.O.A, Die Kreuzen, Urban Waste, Antidote etc..etc.. thus I will be adding a volume Two ) plus I am constantly learning more about Hardcore (old and new) everyday.. and there are so much other songs that I will include on the Next "My favorite Hardcore Songs Vol. Two ". Thanks for reading keep sweatin' to the Oldies!

PART 2
Sequals suck! This is not a sequal, this is an addition.

Introduction:
Hardcore isn't basketball jerseys and flairing nostrils. Hardcore is an constant creation off of Punk Rock, a louder challenge to the genre. Young and Old, Anger with Frustration and an open forum of anger/disscussion/threat towards political opperession, pouring of commitment, dedication to a spirit we all obtain.. ya-dadda-ya blah blah- get it.. PLAY IT LOUD- PUNCH IN THE FACE!!

This time I will cover songs that are questionable to the genre of hardcore but none-the-less, all of the about to be mentioned songs are anthems for the p*ssed off, and p*ssed on.
You'll see some returning Favorites and you will see some new faces to the list...
1-1-2-3-enjoy.
FUN FUN FUN

RITES OF SPRING- "For Want of "
- I was skeptical of adding R.O.S. but after a fight with my conscience I decided to add them because of the impact that this band had and Guy's throat of pure emotional rage and nicely woven poetry (let's not forget their INSURRECTION days). I chose this song (out of the R.O.S. catalogue) because it resembles the band's breaking point fitted with catchy riffs, and the lyrics are just so painful.

BORN AGAINST- "Nine Years Later "
- LIFE'S BLOOD made my other list now its time for BORN AGAINST to make an appearence. No doubt BORN AGAINST can play like musicians with style and sound. (I mean sh*t.. they had a memeber of MOSS ICON, and future member of UNIVERSAL ORDER OF ARMAGEDDON ). BORN AGAINST are easily one of my favorite late-80's span 90's hardcore acts... This song has an outstanding introduction, its like a bad-a** motherf*cker speaks his piece introduction... Yo Shaft you ain't got Funk on BORN AGAINST.

NEGATIVE FX- "Mind Control "
-Lead Singer Choke and boy(z) had Charles Manson in mind when "Mind Control " was written. Loaded with one big breakdown crashing down to snap some necks and paint NFX on your forehead... Kill for the NFX!

THE FAITH- "Subject to Change "
- From the start daunting bass-line to Alec MacKaye's wolf-howling this song remained a signature FAITH tune, and the centerpiece to the Ep of the same name.

CODE 13- "Days Of Rage "
- To fully understand this song you have had to watch "A Clockwork Orange " & "Taxi Driver " (Both fantastic works of cinema, hats off to Kubrick & Scorsea). When you hear that Travis Bickle line "Now I see clearly My whole life is pointed in one direction..." you know its on and the picture in your mind of Robert De Niro with a Mohawk appears like instant pudding, Felix Von Havoc (Havoc Records) spits the mic with a fit of godamn rage that even (as I hear it) has Satan finding his favorite blankie.

D.R.I. - "Mad Man "
- It's well known that I am a Dirty Rotten Fan.. sh*t, I wear a button on my jacket of this band.. and I am PICKY about that kind of thing. "Mad Man " is about what every band fears... their godamn parents trying to pull the plug on their Noise. Just what the hell are parents thinking? godamn Idiots. D.R.I. are more Thrash than Hardcore.. but who can really tell the difference? And Who cares? Who Am I, You ask, D.R.I.

GORILLA BISCUITS- "Start Today "
- "Because I found the time for hangin out and talkin on the phone. " Yeah! That is some Hardcore Lyrics! Yeah! Plus a Harmonica Solo! Yeah! Hardcore!

VOID- "Who Are You? "
- VOID were one of the top-notch HarDCore bands of their time.. man I blow my lid when this band motors up. Bubba Dupree's axe is like that of Sterling Morrison of VELVET UNDERGROUND.

BLACK FLAG- "My War "
- Probably one of the most angriest songs ever written, and I recently (Dec. 26th, day after Christmas) wrecked my car to this song (My first ever car wreck at the hands of BLACK FLAG, when I saw the amount for repairs I waved the White Flag). So I got a new rule.. No BLACK FLAG while I am driving, and no being p*ssed off and listening to BLACK FLAG cause things are going to break, and tempers are going to show themselves, and paychecks are going to disappear to slight accidents.

BLACK FLAG- "Six Pack "
- The Ultimate Hardcore party song... invite your friends over (the ones that mosh with ball and chains and wear no socks). The Lyrics prove it's the ultimate party song (aside from "TV Party " another BLACK FLAG anthem): "My girlfriend asks me which one I like better. Six Pack! I Hope the answer won't upset her... It's Six Pack! " HA! TRUE BROTHER! TRUE!

SIEGE- "Conform "
- Why oh Why the hell did I forget this band on my other list? Check it, SIEGE (in the eyes of many) were the founding fathers of the sub-sub genre Grindcore. Pounding Drums of fury and a wicked bassline- Sh*t I had all of the SIEGE songs on my old computer and that thing blew up now I don't have them anymore... but what sticks out most in my mind is that song "Conform ".. what power.

CAUSE FOR ALARM- "Poison In The Machine"
- CFA came then went, then came, they went.. but their old sh*t will always stay. Awesome vocals from Keith and great energy from the crew..

JERRY'S KIDS- "I Don't Belong Here "
- Picking a favorite from this band is hard...I still don't know if this is my favorite song from these guys, but I will tell you that "Is This My World " is a great boston hardcore fast tear it up album. Whenever I think JERRY'S KIDS I think of that chorus in "I Don't Belong Here ".. and neither do you.

ARTICLES OF FAITH- "I've Got Mine "
- I made a mistake, this A.O.F. song is my most favorite A.O.F. song. Easily their best work... and at times this song will in fact send a chill down your decrepit backbone.

S.O.A.- "Girl Problems "
- I'm assuming that Hardcore bands didn't know a thing about girls because they were so scarce in the Hardcore scene (due to sweaty slamdancing). Henry Garfield (later be known as Henry Rollins) sang this inspiring tune that proclaimed "I don't need no Girl Problems/ I got troubles as it is/ I don't need to waste my time/ I don't need no sh*t "

BAD BRAINS- "Big Takeover (Rock for Light Version) "
- I hate the other version... but the "Rock For Light " version is total f*cking energy! Great Lead off track to get the body jolting and revolting pure f*cking watts!! Oh yea and BAD BRAINS continue to make this list because they thrashed and rocked harder than anyone else!! Oh yeah and BAD BRAINS always make the list... damn uh-huh yeah.

TSOL- "Abolish Government/ Silent Majority "
"President Reagan can shove it! " Yes I bet Ronald doesn't remember that quote.. I doubt he can even remember what he did 2 seconds ago... or what he did on his last birthday.. Ok I'll stop poking fun, but that song was part of the Anti- Reagan Hardcore (Known as the Reagan Years ) approach. This was TSOL at their best.. later then went onto become a hair metal band with none of the original members, it got all kinds of horrible... and you can stone me to death but I liked The "Dance with Me " Full Length.

STALAG 13- "Conditioned "
- One of the founding fathers of the Oxnard legacy titled "Nardcore ". STALAG 13 are such an influence on band's today their "In Control " LP is the name of a band (also from Oxnard) calling themselves IN CONTROL... bands like FIELDS OF FIRE, HOLIER THAN THOU, IN CONTROL, etc.. etc.. are keeping the NARDCORE alive and well. STALAG 13 had something unique about them.. and this song presents that very well.

RIPCORD- "Furder "
- This particular song (and Band) didn't make my first list because I didn't own anything outside the computer by this band. But make no mistake about it, RIPCORD are my favorite thrash band from England and that is a bold statement to make. "Furder " is a brutal reality and musical outrage on the killing of animals to benefit mankind which is very questionable and RIPCORD obviously take a side... what's yours? "Fur Is Murder!! "

BORN AGAINST- "Born Again "
- Dah! Dah! It's BORN AGAINST again... This song is some scary sh*t.

RUDIMENTARY PENI- "Hearse "
- Furious Anarcho Hardcore with Blinko vocals that are off the wall- this track has got a weird-o chorus.

URBAN WASTE- "Public Opinion "
- What's so cool about this song is the interesting (well opinion on Punk/ Hardcore) spoken word (check it out).

That is the end for now... unless I conjure up some more songs and senseless babbling for maybe a later time. Keep it 'core, and make sure your girlfriend isn't looking.

-John
