Have you ever bought those delicious pastel mints at your grocer or department store ? They have little decorative balls ( or tooth breakers ) on the bottom usually . Well , these are one of my favorite treats and recently I learned the trick to heavenly success with these wonders .
To make this it would seem delicacy is so easy it is a shame to accept the compliments you are sure to receive . All you need is a brick of white chocolate that can be found at your local grocer a a dab of mint oil or extract . The best way to melt chocolate is use a large pot full of water on medium to medium low heat . Then put a smaller pot into this one with your chocolate in it . Chocolate has to be stirred constantly so be sure to stay at hand while making this dessert . Once your chocolate is melted stir in a drop or two of the mint flavoring and spoon onto wax paper . You can color this any way you like by general food colors . Lastly , cool overnight in your refrigerator .
Some Variations
1. Buy some plastic spoons and dip them in your mixture . Cool as directed and then decorate with frosting . You can wrap these in cellophane wrap and tie with curly ribbon . These make gourmet gifts or really neat party favors . If you can not find the wrap - try your local florist .
2. Why stop at mint flavoring ? Try any type of extracts to get the taste you would like .
3 . Make a cake shell by brushing on to the cake and refrigerating or a pie shell by brushing up the sides with a paint brush and chilling .
4. Those molds you may be at a loss for the use of at specialty shops or bakeries are perfect for this . You can even make suckers by inserting a popsicle stick .
I hope you have as much fun as me with this idea . Have fun with it and do not be afraid to try something new ! Thanks for reading - sweetycaroline
