Professional CD Copies
Written: Dec 27 '06
The Bottom Line: They are fast, they are professional, they are printable! Maxell delivers excellent burns for music, data or photos with a printable top for a professional look.
I like my music CDs to look good. I will often make duplicates of my CDs for my son to use, or to listen to in my car. That way the original doesn't get scratched, lost or otherwise destroyed.
There are many blank CDs that do just fine for recording music on, however, what makes these discs really nice is that you can print on the surface.
It took me a long time to sort the good from the bad in printable DVDs, my search was easy for printable CDs.
I like these so much that I bought a package of blank Maxell CDs for my son for Christmas. I told him that he could have a copy of any of the CDs in my collection to listen to at his mothers house. He is 11, and an aspiring guitar player so he frequently raids my classic music collection. (Deep Purple, Guns 'n' Roses, Metallica, Megadeth, Rush, The Who, he has discovered discs full of music he loves and frequently borrows them). Maxell saves me from hunting down all my classic metal!
How Good? Music Using a Memorex DVD Burner (which also can be set to burn CDs) I could burn a copy of one of my CDs in under 5 minutes and thats just using RECORD IT, the basic burning program that comes with my computer. Copies came out flawless, and I had no problem playing it on my players or in the car. He was able to also play his CD at home with no problem. This is a CD burn using WMA files that are recognized by any CD player.
The best part? I could print a beautiful graphic and the names of the song with my Epson CD print program and Epson R200 Printer directly onto the glossy white CD surface. Album photos can be printed out in full color and detail on the surface of the CD which looks much better than a sharpie. A list of the songs can also be printed, and Times New Roman at 8 pts. is completely and easily readable on the CD surface.
How Good? Data My girlfriend wanted family photos that I had scanned for her on CDs for her sisters. She has a large family, but in no time, I had a dozen discs with 300 jpegs apiece burned for her. The photos looked great on each one, and her sisters and parents were delighted with a family history on disc.
To personalize each disc, we selected a pleasant graphic and a To: From: line along with Merry Christmas 06 Family Photo Album on each disc. Would this gift have looked as nice with generic blank discs marked up with sharpies? Not even close. Maxell printable discs look great, and record great.
How Fast? 48X is pretty fast. I originally burned a couple discs on an older computer, forgetting that the built in CD burner was an antique in computer years. The discs were flawed. I quickly realized that it was the burner however, and not the media. I fired up my Memorex, which is so new that it even burns the new dual layer DVDs, and data and music projects were done in literally minutes. (yes it did take another few minutes to print what I wanted on the surface)
Container I even like the container this comes in. It is not just an ordinary spindle case, it twists to open up, and it must be turned to take the plastic lid off. You have to twist a bit harder than most spindle cases which means that it won't accidently open and spill 25 blank discs all over the floor unintentionally.
Price These were a steal at Wal - Mart, I paid less than 10 dollars for a package of 25. They are quality discs, they are printable, and they are a bargain!
Summary If you have CDs to copy, or data projects or even photo albums under 700 megabites, Maxell provides a quick professional recording media. Combined with a good burner and a good printer that will print on CDs and DVDs, Maxell Printable 48X Blank CDs get five stars from me!
