Great List (Reply to this comment)
by artbyjude
I could probably make a different list every six months, even without watching any NEW movies. I rediscover old movies practically every day-or my mood changes-Or one of the marbles rolls to the other side of my head-any number of reasons !
I tend to forget how much I enjoyed some of these!

I actually haven't seen one on your list, and I intend to fix that! Thanks!

Oh, I just wrote my Ponette review now, since you seemed interested in the film.

No you didn't spell Ponette wrong. It's quite a movie; as long as you don't mind subtitles! haha! It's not every day that you see a four year old carry a movie, but in this movie she definitely does that!

Maybe you ought to make a list now......

These are fun because they give a little inside view as to the type of films people really like - each list is so different! I must look up "Ponette" (I probably spelled that wrong), it's one I've heard about but not seen. Sounds good!

Hey, that's cool that you've actually seen eight from the list. Yea, I know if I made this list in the next few years, it'd probably be slightly different at least...... it's hard to make these lists, but I suppose it sounds better and more forceful (and it's probably more attention-grabbing) if someone says that THIS is the best, and THIS is the worst, etc. Obviously I wouldn't make a very good marketer.... if I wrote sound bites for movie trailers, they'd be too vauge!

Well, it's funny because I didn't deliberatly put three William Holden pictures (he's in The Bridge on the River Kwai, as well, although I don't think I mentioned him there), although he is a good actor. I think it's really by chance that three films that he is in, are on the list. I liked these three films for reasons other than Holden -- he's not really the high point in Network or the River Kwai, I think. However, I knew conciously that there were three James Stewart pictures on my list... but that is because I am a big fan of his. He's great in all of them.

you are a pretty big Wm Holden fan? ;-) He's also good in Counterfeit Traitor, Wild Bunch, and a few others like Sunset Blvd. Also, Jimmy Stewart knocking John Wayne down IS surreal. Great description! Nice job on your list.
