Nice room, but that's it!!!

Pros:Short notice and still got a decent room.
Cons:Meals were horrible.
The Bottom Line: Places like this is the best place to find out what you need before you go somewhere. Do home work before leaving.
I've been to plenty of places around the world and recently I received orders to report to Naval Station Pearl Harbor Hawaii. When paying for services I expect service, and good service at that. I was told that living in Hawaii was real expensive so I came prepared with plenty of money saved up for the new move. I arrive in Honolulu HI at around 5pm local time. I call the place and they have a room ready for me. I go to the hotel and the first thing I do is sleep. Jet-lag like crazy.
The place was in Waikiki which made it all that more expensive. The rate with a military discount was $100.00 per night. I figured that was fair but I figure for that amount of money you should be able to use the phone in your room for free. On local calls anyway. They charged $0.95 per call that I made even if I used my phone card.
Since I was moving there I asked if we would be getting a complimentary news paper. They said yes but never saw one paper the whole time I was there. So now I was going to the store to buy the paper and start looking for a place to stay and decide that it would benefit me to get a rental car so that I can get around from place to place while I am looking for an apartment.
After a long day out and about looking, I go to the counter and tell them that I have a rental car now and wanted to give them the information so it doesn't get towed. They give me a piece of paper and tell me its going to cost $7.00 per day for the car! Disgusted at the new rate of my hotel I head for the elevator and find a menu on the wall that says buffet breakfast $7.00 dollars. I figure well at least I'll get a good breakfast. The next morning I get up and head over to the dining area, the guy asks me for my meal ticket that I gave him. He said help yourself and I glanced over at the breakfast bar and see all the steam rising and think to myself "yummie". I go up to the breakfast bar and open up the pancakes which are pretty hard to screw up anyway, but they were crunchy around the edges and not from being over cooked crunchy more like a stale crunchy from being left out to long. The eggs had this greenish tint to them, hash-browns were chewey, and the bacon and sausage were dry. Everything was a mess but the cereal they still had in the box. I couldn't believe they had that food out there for people to eat. I was totally disgusted and went to the counter and got my money back. The next morning I got up and decided to go to the front desk and ask then where a good place to eat breakfast was and they said the breakfast bar is open. I said no a good place to eat breakfast. They pointed me in the direction of a place outside to the left of the place and that place was really good. If you're going to come to Waikiki don't eat at the Holiday Inn. Staying there is okay but be prepared to pay literally for everything.
