Did it do any good? (Reply to this comment)
by Mud
It's been a long...long time since i've written a review.
Coming back and reading my old reviews, your old reviews, and James' reviews brings back sweet memories.
I was so addicted to writing here that i was buying a new bowling ball every 2 or 3 weeks just to write about it.
Hope your game is still on, i've moved on to pool and ping pong ;)

There are many areas in sports and outdoors that need to be updated. Hopefully, I can stay one bowling ball or two ahead of you in getting them added so you won't run out of things to write on.
I encourage everyone to submit their specific product requests to me for addition.
I will get to them as fast as I can. Remember, the more specific information you can provide, the better. Otherwise I spend my time researching to get the information.
Here's a link to a Sports & Outdoors suggestion form.

LOL!
My oldest daughter is very involved with fastpitch softball. The equipment gets pricey! And yes, Pam is doing a superb job!

Lisa,
Softball needs updating? That's a laugh! Is that a sport?
Just joking... I love to play softball, modified and slow pitch, I can't hit the hook so no fast pitch for me.
I do believe you're right Pam is doing and will continue to do a good job.
Thanks for reading and commenting.

Glad to know that the situation is working out. It is sad to lose writers, based on 'no content' for their interest. Pam is a good player on the CL team, and a great Lead for the sports/outdoor area. Now, if I would get some requests to her with regard to all the softball equipment we have. ;)
Take care and keep writing.... Sincerely, Lisa

I really enjoy the budweiser style of bowling ball, as one can never have too many bowling balls with a beer bottle in the middle of it. JBD

why I have not been to sports area as I am not a mountain climber or a lacrosse player, I'm a bowler! With little new products crossing the epinions website, well, I know what my Columbia yellow dot can do! Thanks for the vent, paulv! I'm there! JBD

Hey there...
you said...
"Yes some of this has been melodramatic and very effective....
.. lol ..:-)
My daughter is actually a member of her high school's varsity/JV bowling team. And I have been a beer league and recreational bowler for more years than I care to think about...:-|
So I understand somewhat your passion for the game. And I can certainly understand your apparent passion to use Epinions as a vehicle to infect others with that same passion.
Thanks for taking my last comment in the manner it was meant... Sometimes I re-read and wonder what I have said...:-)

Since the CL was just put into place it seemed longer than other areas to get items added. I remember getting a comment alert on one you posted that was off topic and Pam had stated she was glad to see your enthusiasm and was going to help you.
Thanks for continuing to read me and leave thoughtful comments as well.

D*mn it paulv, we do not want to here that you had not pursued the help of the section Lead before this 'last minute' saving touch...
So if you had not asked her before, just keep it to yourself.
Make sure you adulate this "CL known to us as diverpam" every day that you remain here at Epinions.

'Salvation is mine,' says the Lord and with the blink of an eye an angel appeared to help with my redemption and salvation............ My angel has come in the form a CL known to us as diverpam.... She has managed to get updates on bowling balls and has sent me at least a weeks worth of reviews just today..... It amazes me that the timing of this God send was in the final hour of my demise. So I shall rise like a bowling phoenix to write reviews on NEW bowling balls with the zest and zeal of a new epinionator.............. Thanks Pam, my whines turned to prayers and my prayers have been answered. I live to bowl and bowl to live and writing reviews about bowling balls gives me yet another way to express my passion for the sport and game of bowling.

...even though I don't think I actually read any of your reviews before this, or even was aware that Epinions had a bowling section. Still, this site needs people with a passion for something... they provide the best in-depth reviews about whatever it is they're really into, whether it is bowling or jazz music or old movies or travel in Latin America... no matter how specialized or obscure the interest, a site with lots of people with their different interests will achieve both breadth and depth at once.
Unfortunately, the management of Epinions can't possibly share all of your passions, and that can show in the diligence they put into keeping various sections updated. The really popular items, which they think will attract the most interest from the general public, get kept up to date, while more obscure interests, especially if nobody in management shares them, get ignored. This can be seen even within popular categories like books and music, where hot bestsellers and pop hits get put up for review here very promptly, but lesser-known releases sometimes never show up, which can be frustrating if you're a big fan of one of these "obscurities".

fitness equipment. They are a huge company. Bigger than many listed. It is so frustrating that I can't review at least 3 pieces of equipment because my gym only has Cybex. I have asked for it to be added. I don't know what it takes. I don't know if they need permission from the company or why it is so difficult, but I hear you. jo

There should be hope for added bowling balls and equipment in the future. I know that epinions is working with the CL's in order to enable add product features. Slowly it is happening.

Your frustration is understandable...:-|
It is clear from your essay that you are not here for the money. That you are obviously driven by some hopeless mission to help the bowling nut...:-) But apparently that is not an 'itch' for the powers that be. I would say use the response to this essay to show them that people care about bowling and new bowling products at Epinions. But that probably won't get you very far...:-)
No 'product add' power for the Leads in Sports and Outdoor gear ??
Fight the fight or shake your head and walk away...:-|

Re: ... (Reply to this comment)

I have stopped writing a couple of times trying to make a statement but I wasn't even missed and the only good that came from it was I spent more time doing things I had put off. Epinions doesn't need me but I'm sure the bowling category would have fewer quality reviews and very limited information for consumers to use.
No, I'm not trying to pat myself on the back and yet the fact remains I've written more reviews in bowling than any other reviewer. There is a reason behind that.....No one else seems to write about out dated products.
Thanks for reading and speaking your mind.

Re: Well you can write about Bowling Ball!! (Reply to this comment)
by paulv
Thanks for reading. I've written a review on the prostitution of the sport of bowling, advice on care of equipment and even on how much you should spend on equipment. I'm much more a technical writer than I am a Poet.
Bowlers looking for information on bowling balls won't want to read a bowling poem in my opinion. But you never know. I don't think I write just to write, I want to pass on good information the way this site was designed to be used.
Thanks again for expressing your views.

Well you can write about Bowling Ball!! (Reply to this comment)
by stse
Yon can write the bowling poem,
fiction or non-fiction. It does not have to be in their categories. However, whether you will get income share out of it, that's another question.
As a matter of fact, even you write the most income share review, you may not get anything. So far, my reviews for the last 2 months showed nothing about income regardless of what it is. They are all $0.00!!!
If you come to write to express yourself, this is the place.
If you come to write to make money, I don't think so. The economy is so bad now. Money is tight for everyone. Remember the old days, lots of free stuff from the net, they are quick and easy. Now? money, money money.......wait wait wait!!!

i agree you have the right to be upset. while i don't have the same problems with the way epinions is run as you do (movies get updated a lot more than bowling, i'm afraid), i do indeed have my own problems with the site. still, i think it would be sad to lose one of us 'original members' and would ask you to consider taking a hiatus rather than a permanent departure. if you do that, they win. and dammit they always seem to win.
sorry you've had to go through this, i hear you loud and clear - and your essay and points therein are very very valid.
take care,
chad.
