Ergonomic Excellence
Written: Jul 05 '01 (Updated Jul 05 '01)
Pros:Good ergonomics
Cons:Battery wears out.
The Bottom Line: Cost 5 times what I paid for my Trudox buy, hey, it's only money right?
I'm in hot water for an opinion I snuck in on another trackball that I mentioned in a Logitech review. Fortunately I now have the Logitech Cordless Trackman Wheel so this is a totally legitimate review.
I like the thing a lot. It's second nature. You don't run out of mouse pad or table and you can use it anywhere within 6 ft. of your computer, although, with a fresh battery, I've been able to use it up to 16 ft. away. Sometimes I even turn it up side down in my lap and roll and scroll on my screen to my heart's content.
I bought it from www.buy.com and they shipped it within a day. Including shipping it was right around $50. It was well packaged and easy to install.
The design works really well for me because I find it ergonomically natural to rest my thumb on the ball, index finger on the first button and roller and middle finger on the right button. In this way I find I have a solid lock on my cursor. Initially it may seem awkward but once you get the hang of it the speed and accuracy are extremely satisfying.
