Pros: The product actually lives up to its claims

The Bottom Line: The sealer works and seals in champagne bubbles. I would highly recommend it to anyone who likes champagne but is unable to finish a bottle in one sitting.

| Stephy's Full Review: Metrokane wine/champagne sealer (pn 6115 ) |
I received the Metrokane wine/champagne sealer as a present with a few bottles of wine. At the time, I said thanks but my thoughts were that I didn't really need this since I already have other wine sealers that work fine (At the time, I wasn't thinking about the champagne aspect).
But time rolls around and Mike and I have a bottle of champagne. While I like champagne, there is only so much that two people can drink over a single night so we have to figure out how to keep it so it can be enjoyed other nights. We have tried using other wine sealers on champagne before, but that was always unsuccessful because the carbonation has always forced the sealer to pop off within a few hours and the champagne goes flat. At which point, I remembered that we have this Metrokane wine/champagne sealer which claimed to seal wine air-tight and preserve champagne bubbles. So I get the sealer out and put it on the bottle of champagne. At the top of the sealer is a knob which you need to turn clockwise to seal the bottle by releasing air. Then I place the bottle in the fridge.
The next day when I opened the fridge, I expected to see that this sealer had been forced off by the carbonation. But to my surprise, it was still on the bottle. At this point, I had decided to pour myself a glass to see if the champagne was still bubbly. So I need to turn the sealer knob in a counter-clockwise direction and then I could remove it from the bottle - at this point, I heard a slight "pop" as though this was the first time that I was opening this bottle. Needless to say, I was impressed and when I drank my glass, it was just as bubbly as the day before. Overall, I am able to report back that the sealer keeps the champagne's carbonation for at least half a week. (It probably would work for a longer period of time, but we generally finish the bottle within a few days.)
This product has a bit of an upscale look; you would not be anyhow embarrassed if your friends saw it. It is about 2 inches tall and is black. The sealer fits onto the bottle opening (as opposed to within the bottle opening like a cork).
My only "complaint" would be that the packaging didn't give explicit instructions on how to use the sealer, but it was pretty self-explanatory so it really wasn't a big deal.
As I have said, I received this as a gift so I am unsure of the purchase price or location. But I have found that this sealer is available on the Metrokane website for $7 and I believe it it sold at many wine stores because I have noticed other people using this same sealer. (You know how it is...you don't notice when other people have things until you own it too.)
