The Mountain...a poem

The Bottom Line My poem...

Woohoo! A place for poems. I'm thrilled, can you tell?

The following poem is one that I posted at poetry.com and I just typed it as I went. No rough drafts or anything...for me, I write poetry better that way. That's not to even insinuate that my poems are well-written. Who knows what would happen if I put some real thought and time into them, which is hard since I have neither. Enjoy.

The Mountain

Tall, solid, and knowing.
Jagged at the edges; I've trees growing.
I've witnessed change and withstood effect.
High with courage and always erect.
Winds hit me hard, though I hold my embrace.
Time means naught, I'm in no race.

My head is a peak with my eyes in the sky;
I can see for miles and miles
as the world passes me by.
I am dodged and admired,
people are struck with awe-
I'm the prettiest sight around winter and fall.

No breaking through, though you may go around.
I'm happy to say my base sits firm on the ground.
You should come visit me out in the east.
I'm biggest of all, somewhat of a beast.

As the rains pour,
I'm a huge fountain-
ultimately, though,
I'm not more than a mountain.

~Lynn
