I'm glad to have shared this memory with you--and even more glad that it gave you a sense of being there!!!
Already, I've read several of your writings--but I put you on my WOT before I even read the first one, because I could see that we have a lot of connections going for us!
Glad to meet you!
Thanks, too, for your condolences. My uncle and you share the same first name!!!
Hugs!

Lovely story... (Reply to this comment)
by Don_Krider
Ainsley, I really enjoyed this story (especially the part about the crowd at a drive-in chanting "We want The Beatles" before a movie brought that moment to life for me). I wish I could have seen The Beatles perform live --- what a memory!
I'm sorry to hear about your uncle, also.
Don :)

Re: Great Story (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for your prayers.
Uncle Don had a beautiful memorial service at church this past Saturday.
Sadly, it was too slick underfoot in too many places for me to attend, but I'll be getting a tape of it to listen to.
It was cleared off enough for me to get out, so I took a memorial drive instead and drove around past several of Uncle Don's favorite places and remembered what was significant about each one.
I even stopped and ate a late lunch at White Castle with an orange drink, a side of fries with melted cheese to dip them into, and a main course of four main hamburgers.
For anyone not knowing why this (main course of four plain hamburgers) was significant, please read one of my earlier reviews, which was on White Castle.
I find that it's always fun to share my memories with others, whether about my own friends and loved ones or about some cool group like The Fab Four.
Hugs!

First off, welcome back!!! I hope that my connection here remains this time around.
I signed out to look at the site through the eyes of a non-member and, then, my computer connection kept screwing up.
Then, I noticed that you were back, and I decided that I would try again to access the site--something I was afraid I wouldn't be doing until I was able to get somewhere public such as the library.
At first, I had a real fight on my hands, but, finally, my computer allowed me to sign back in, and things have been going great ever since!!!
I even found out that three more people had added me to their WOT!
Anyway, it's great to be back!!!
As soon as I catch up with some of my comments, I'll be over, unless my Internet Connection lays another egg!
Hugs!

I'm another one who wasn't exactly around for the Beatles, but I loved the story anyway. Thanks for sharing it.
Sorry to hear about your uncle. I'll be thinking about you and be keeping you in my prayers.

So your Comments on Phil's review for "A Hard Day's Night" DVD turn into a FULL BLOWN review of it's own? That sounds like you of course what can anyone expect from one of the all time great BEATLES FANS like you (and me too). You ROCK GIRL!
Remember what Arnold said in Terminator (well guess what - JAG'S BACK!)
Well just reading to start slowly and a few comments here and there!

Rotten eggs!?!
Sounds as if they had gas or something!
I've never heard of sweat smelling like rotten eggs.
They probably had both gas and stand-up clothes with their hectic schedule and all. Probably didn't eat right and, when they did, swallowed too much air. That, mixed with no time to do their laundry and sweat from the stage lights, probably worked together to turn them into being not only The Fab Four, The Flatulent Four, and The Stinky Four.
No wonder we weren't permitted to get close to them! They had an image to keep up and needed us to keep believing that they smelled like aftershave! LOLOLOL
Here's something I found out: During the making of The Wizard Of Oz, Bert Lahr was having some trouble with his digestion.
Since he was wearing his lion suit all of the time, he could break wind whenever he felt the need without fear of its seeping out, as he was too well-padded for that.
However, when he removed his costume, it was like that old doing it into a jar and opening the lid later story!
Those in charge of his costume really had a "lovely" experience, I'm sure!!!
Laters!

Oh, Yes (Reply to this comment)

Well do I remember the Beatles and the reaction of my two oldest kids - Jim and Judith. Jim was in a high school band, and they were good enough to be asked to play at high school dances, Fraternity dances and the like. One of the kids had a father who was a policeman. He was assigned to the Beatles when they came to Cleveland. He managed to get a lot of photos of the group, together and individually, and made copies for all the kids in the band. The policeman said that it earned him some pretty nasty remarks from John, because the flash was irritating. He also said the Beatles smelled like rotten eggs. They were on such a rapid moving tour that they had no time to get their stage clothing dry cleaned, and the stage lights made them sweat - a lot. Even their traveling clothing were pungent, according to the cop. Anyway, a great review.

I don't mind having it rubbed in, 'cos it's nifty-being fifty--especially, when I'm fifty MONTHS at heart!!!
It's always fun for me to share memories--and I feel as if I'm contributing to teaching history to the kids growing up today.
I've certainly had 50 years of history and planning on 50 or so more, God willing!!!
Glad I was able to capture this time for you so you could live it through my words!
I've found a lot of wonderful history books on display around this community!!!
Warm Fuzzies!

Re: Shhhhhh! (Reply to this comment)

Thanks for the fab, gear, and groovy URL!!!
Hard to believe that it's been almost 38 years since they stole our hearts by playing on The Ed Sullivan Show!!!
Was I a nerd back then? Hmmmmmmm. . .
Actually, my fifth-grade teacher thought that I had the potential to be MORE of a nerd if I wouldn't spend so much time goofing off.
Otherwords, be an actual straight-A student instead of As, Bs, and Cs.
She told my folks that, if I applied more of that energy I used making mischief to my studies, I would end up making my mark on the world in a way that would outshine General Motors.
Of course, my folks thought that I was destined for greatness--which is just a symptom of being a Mommy & Daddy (you know, the one where you tell your kid that he/she can be anything--including President--and actually believe it!)--so it felt great to them to know that someone outside the family confirmed this!
Though there were times (a few, not many) when I came close during my time in grades 1-12, I never was a straight-A student.
Even so, I had a thirst for learning and learned a lot!
I was what you might think of as a kind of impish nerd!
For an example of that, go here:

Enjoy!
AJ :o)
P.S. Seeing as how another anniversary of The British Invasion will be taking place in a little over a month, expect a lot of celebrating from me!

Hush, AJ...You're giving away our AGE! :oP
Wowza...I just searched up that concert and here's the first thing I found:
http://www.rarebeatles.com/photopg7/india64.htm
So you guys spent between $3 and $5 each to see The Beatles?!! Can you believe that!
We heard "Here Comes The Sun" on the car radio this evening and got to talking about what fun memories their songs bring back. How I miss those days! And YOU got to see them in person. Lucky girl! (I was such a nerd at that age...how 'bout you? LOL!)
"And all I wanna doooo, is thank you, girl, thank you, girl..." for a fun review!
