Pros: Excellent reputation in the field, Very good CO-OP program
Cons: Food is horrible, a lot of professors just don't care
The Bottom Line: It may be cheap to go here, but you have to put up with a lot of crap. However, it's all worth it in the end.

| mjgreene550's Full Review: Wentworth Institute of Technology |
I am currently a rising sophomore studying Computer Science. I lived in Baker Hall freshman year and will be living in Evans Way this fall.
THE GOOD
My first year was overall a positive experience. I met a lot of cool kids during a short amount of time. I continued to make a lot of friends as the year went on, mostly on my floor. Most of the students I have come in contact with are easy to get along with and outgoing.
The CO-OP from what I understand is better than Northeastern's. If you decide to do the optional CO-OP your sophomore summer year, you'll end up with a better high paying job than most northeastern kids will on their first CO-OP. The other good thing is, Wentworth has an amazing reputation in the technology field. Many business will take Wentworth students in immediately just because they graduated there. That's basically the only thing keeping me at this school, is knowing that I will have a very good job before I graduate.
THE BAD
Ok, first off, I would just like to say that it is very easy to get into Wentworth but it's just as easy to get kicked out for any given reason. If some authoritative figure doesn't think you don't belong there, chances are you might get thrown out somehow. One way to get busted is having an RA (Resident Assistant) catch you drinking in a dry dorm. (Which is almost all of them) Now just about every RA I've ever met was a complete jerk on a power trip. However there is one exception to my RA, which understood that kids are not going to do their homework on a Friday night. The other way is to get caught with weed, which is so common because it is damn near impossible to smoke in those buildings without getting caught because the buildings themselves are so old that everything leaks out into the hallway.
Another bad experience I've had was with the Wentworth Police, that's right POLICE, these guys aren't rent-a-cops ladies and gentlemen. They actually train with the Boston Police, they carry real guns, and have an attitude of a real Boston Officer. Except for the Lieutenant, which I've talked to personally on more than one occasion. He seemed to be a very understanding gentlemen. But as for the rest of them, they could care less about your safety. They bust the students more than they do help them from being mugged outside their own dorm. I'm not just saying that because I've had bad experience with Wentworth police but, kids do get mugged outside their own dorm rooms and all you hear about the Wentworth public safety doing is busting kids for having a 12 pack in their fridge. Now who gives a damn if some college kid wants to drink a lousy 12 pack of beer. Do you know how hard some of these courses are? You would be to if you had to take them.
No as for the food. Don't even get me started. The food just plain sucks. Picture yourself eating at McDonalds 3 times a day and paying twice as much for it. I'm being very serious here. You can grab a grinder and a drink from a local pizza shop for half the price of a meal at the cafe. The help there is nothing to write home about. And to be quite honest it made a lot of kids sick after, including me. The hours of operation are nothing to be too happy about either.
Another thing that kind puts a damper on student life, for some reason on the weekends, almost everyone goes home. I don't know what the deal is, I mean it's not like Wentworth is the middle of nowhere, it's in the middle of city for crying out loud. For me it's a big thing, coming from the sticks of New Hampshire.
WORDS OF ADVICE
1) Live in Baker Hall your first year if you can. It easier to make friends because the whole dorm is set up in doubles and the hallway usually ends up as the common room, therefore making it easier to meet people.
2) Go see your professors on a regular basis. It will most likely help when it comes down to grading period.
3) Don't ever make it sound like you're drinking in your room, because the RA's will knock on your door. So play the music loud.
