Top 15 Favorite Songs Ever - the most diverse list you will ever see*under construction*

by
Dec 30, 2002 (Updated Sep 20, 2005)

The Bottom Line Wow, that took a LONG time to finish.

Now I am by no means any kind of music connoisseur, but I do enjoy listening to good music, and believe it or not I do know a thing or two about music. Now, not enough to rule the Music world like some people but enough to get me by in the world and to enjoy what I can listen to. I'm sure there are going to be people who agree with me, people who don't agree with me, people who wonder why all the "great" songs of 2002 aren't on my list, and then there will be people who absolutely hate me and all that I love. That's all right though, because I've got my music to keep me happy.

Amazed
artist: Lonestar

Everytime our eyes meet,
This feelin' inside me,
Is almost more than I can take,
Baby when you touch me,
I can feel how much you love me,
And it just blows me away,
I've never been this close to anyone or anything,
I can hear your thoughts,
I can see your dreams,

I don't know how you do what you do,
I'm so in love with you,
It just keeps gettin' better,
I want to spend the rest of my life,
With you by my side, forever and ever,
Every little thing that you do,
Baby I'm amazed by you.

Why do I like it: Amazed is on my 25 greatest songs list for two reasons; 1]It is an amazing song 2]The lyrics to this song always make me think about loving someone, being mesmorized by them, wanting to do everything in my power to make them happy.

Brick House
artist: Commodores

She's a brick----house
Mighty might just lettin' it all hang out
She's a brick----house
The lady's stacked and that's a fact,
ain't holding nothing back.

She's a brick----house
She's the one, the only one,
who's built like a amazon [pronounced am-a-ka-zawn]
We're together everybody knows,
and here's how the story goes.

Why do I like it: I've got a question, who WOULDN'T like this brilliant song, eh? I'm sure there are a few, but I like it simply because it's got a very catchy tune, and is really fun to sing. Don't tell me you've never walked around the house singing "She's a brick, hoooooouse".

Cats in the Cradle
artist: Guns 'n' Roses

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man on the moon.
"When you comin' home?"
"Son, I don't know when. We'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then."

Well, my son turned ten just the other day He said,
"Thanks for the ball, Dad. Come on, let's play.
Could you teach me to throw?"
I said, "Not today. I got a lot to do."
He said, "That's okay."
And he walked away and he smiled and he said,
"You know, I'm gonna be like him, yeah.
You know I'm gonna be like him."

Why do I like it: I like Cats and the Cradle because it is a great song too listen too, with both a catchy tune and also some meaningful lyrics that remind me a lot of me and my father's relationship when I was younger.

Halo
artist: Soil

(RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA....)

I'm the man, I'm the king
I'm the one
thats pure insane
everyday, everyway i smell
of suicide
bitter sins how they grow within
so tell me it ain't right
I AM... MOHSAN!
and you're my reason for life

I will stone you, stone you
wrap my arms around you
i will stone you, stone you
my little HALO (x2)

Why do I like it: This is a great song to listen to while you're running, at least it is for me, because of all the energy it releases, I want to run faster, but I don't actually get anymore tired. Adrenaline? Probably.

Hannukah Song 2
artist: Adam Sandler

Guess who gives and receives
Loads of Chanukah toys
The girls from Veruca Salt and all three Beastie Boys

Lenny Kravitz is half Jewish,
Courtney Love is half too
Put them together
What a funky bad a$$ Jew

We got Harvey Keitel
And flash dancer Jennifer Beals
Yasmine Bleeth from Baywatch is Jewish
And yes her boobs are real

Why do I like it: Who can't resist Adam Sandler and his famous Happy Chanukah song, both Part I and II. These always make me laugh whenever I listen to it.

I Believe I Can Fly
artist: R. Kelly

I used to think that I could not go on
And life was nothing but an awful song
But now I know the meaning of true love
I'm leaning on the everlasting arms

If I can see it, then I can do it
If I just believe it, there's nothing to it

I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away
I believe I can soar
I see me running through that open door
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly
I believe I can fly

Why do I like it: When I first heard this song I thought it was by Michael Jackson, but after soon learning who the real artist was, I had fell in love with this song, and I listen to it when there's something that I can't do, but know I can do it.

Kryptonite
artist: Three Doors Down

I took a walk around the world to
ease my troubled mind
I left my body laying somewhere
in the sands of time
I watched the world float to the dark
side of the moon
I feel there is nothing i can do, yeah

I watched the world float to the
dark side of the moon
after all I knew it had to be something
to do with you
I really don't mind what happens now and then
as long as you'll my friend at the end

If I go crazy then will you still
call me Superman
if I'm alive and well, will you be
there holding my hand
I'll keep you by my side with
my superhuman might
kryptonite

Why do I like it: I remember when 3 Doors Down were real big back in 2000, and that's when I bought their CD which had my favorite song as the first track on the CD, Kryptonite. I tell ya, I must have listened to that thing for hours and hours on end, just to that one song. That summer was also when I had met my current 3 year crush (3 years since then), and her and I would listen to it while painting this old house in a pretty bad neighborhood.

Last Kiss
artist: Pearl Jam

Where, oh where, can my baby be?
The Lord took her away from me
She’s gone to heaven, so I’ve got to be good
So I can see my baby when I leave this world

We were out on a date in my daddy’s car
We hadn’t driven very far
There in the road, straight ahead
A car was stalled, the engine was dead

I couldn’t stop, so I swerved to the right
I’ll never forget the sound that night
The screamin tires, the bustin glass
The painful scream that I heard last

Why do I like it: I don't know why I like this song, because it talks about losing someone, and not just anyone...your baby girl. I listen to Last Kiss anyway, because I love the song and it's meaning.

Lose Yourself
artist: Eminem

His palms are sweaty, knees weak, arms are heavy
There's vomit on his sweater already, mom's spaghetti
He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready
To drop bombs, but he keeps on forgettin
What he wrote down, the whole crowd goes so loud
He opens his mouth, but the words won't come out
He's chokin, how everybody's jokin now
The clock's run out, time's up over, bloah!
Snap back to reality, Oh there goes gravity
Oh, there goes Rabbit, he choked
He's so mad, but he won't give up that
Is he? No
He won't have it , he knows his whole back city's ropes
It don't matter, he's dope
He knows that, but he's broke
He's so stacked that he knows
When he goes back to his mobile home, that's when it's
Back to the lab again yo
This whole rap sh!t
He better go capture this moment and hope it don't pass him

Why do I like it: Truly one of the only songs that I like by Eminem, this is another track I have on my MP3 player that I listen to while running for wrestling up on the track, and like Halo, it gives me a boost of energy to run faster and harder without losing any kind of breath.

Pass You By
artist: Boys II Men

She was like nothing I've ever known
Her eyes shined like diamonds in a field of snow
Man that destiny led her to me
Made her feel that life was now complete

Now a thousand days have passed and nights gone by
You can see the glow slowly fading from her eyes
Though she denies her pain and her dismay
Know I said this to her anyway

Why do I like it: I generally love anything by Boys II Men, but Pass You By really stood out as a great song, and so that's why I have it in my top 25.

Return to Innocence
artist: Enigma

Don't be afraid to be weak
Don't be too proud to be strong
Just look into your heart my friend
That will be the return to yourself
The return to innocence.

If you want, then start to laugh
If you must, then start to cry
Be yourself don't hide
Just believe in destiny

Why do I like it: I believe I first heard this on Man of the House starring Jonathon Taylor Thomas and Chevy Chase, and absolutely loved it. There's no real reason why I like it, except that it kind of soothes me when I'm having a bad day or girl troubles (I listen to this song often).

Secret Agent Man
artist: Johnny Rivers

There’s a man who leads a life of danger.
To everyone he meets he stays a stranger.
With every move he makes another chance he takes.
Odds are he won’t live to see tomorrow.

Secret Agent Man
Secret Agent Man
They giving you a number and taken’ away your name.

Beware of pretty faces that you find.
A pretty face can hide an evil man.
Oh, be careful what you say,
Or you will give yourself away.
Odds are you won’t live to see tomorrow.

Why do I like it: I first heard this on Austin Powers, and ever since I heard it, I've loved it ever since. A combination of a fast catchy tune plus some funny lyrics, I'll listen to Secret Agent Man anytime just to listen to it.

Space Oddity
artist: David Bowie

This is Ground Control to Major Tom
You've really made the grade
And the papers want to know whose shirts you wear
Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

"This is Major Tom to Ground Control
I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today

Why do I like it: I first heard THIS song on Mr. Deeds, and since then have absolutely adored it. Great song to listen to anytime you feel like it.

Summer of 69'
artist: Bryan Adams

Summer Of '69

I got my first real six-string
Bought it at the five-and-dime
Played it til my fingers bled
It was the summer of '69

Me and some guys from school
Had a band and we tried real hard
Jimmy quit and Jody got married
I shoulda known we'd never get far

Oh when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Ya - I'd always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life

Why do I like it: I love Summer of 69 because right when I hear it, I start moving my head to the beat and snapping my fingers and humming the beat all throughout the house.

The Day I Fall In Love
artist: Dolly Parton and James Ingram

just an ordinary day. Started out the same old way.
then I looked into your eyes and knew. today would be. a first for me.
The day I fall in love.

On the day I fall in love. The sky will be, a perfect blue. and I'll give my heart forever more.
to someone who, is just like you...
The day I fall in love.

People all say. love is wonderful. that bells will ring,
the birds will sing, THE SKIES WILL OPEN. I wonder
wheres that great big symphony, roll over beethoven.
wont you play with me.

Why do I like it: This is a great song, and all though hearing it a LONG time before the movie, I was reminded of the song when watching Beethoven's 2nd for the first time when it had first came out on video (long time ago).

Then You Look At Me
artist: Celine Dion

Laugh and cry
Live and die
life is a treat we are trated
day by day
I find my way
Look for the soul
and the meaning

Then you look at me
and I then I'll see
what i've been searching for
I'm lost as can be
then you look at me
and I am not lost anymore

Why do I like it: I can't remember where I heard this, but I heard it somewhere and it's stuck with me for awhile.

Ice Ice Baby
artist: Vanilla Ice

Ice Ice Baby
Ice Ice Baby
All right stop
Collaborate and listen
Ice is back with my brand new invention
Something grabs a hold of me tightly
Then I flow that a harpoon daily and nightly
Will it ever stop?
Yo--I don't know
Turn off the lights and I'll glow
To the extreme I rock a mic like a vandal
Light up a stage and wax a chump like a candle.

Why do I like it: There's no explanation for Vanilla Ice, Ice Ice Baby is a great song to listen to no matter what you're doing.

We Didn't Start the Fire
artist: Billy Joel

We didn't start the fire
It was always burning
Since the world's been turning
We didn't start the fire
No we didn't light it
But we tried to fight it

Why I like it: I'm not really a big Billy Joel fan, but after hearing this song I absolutely loved it.

Without Me
artist: Eminem

Now this looks like a job for me
So everybody just follow me
Cuz we need a little controversy,
Cuz it feels so empty without me

I said this looks like a job for me
So everybody just follow me
Cuz we need a little controversy,
Cuz it feels so empty without me

Why do I like it: Before Lose Yourself had came out, Without Me was my favorite song by Eminem, and the only one that I listened to while running/working out. But, ever since Lose Yourself, Without Me has kind of taken a backseat.

We Are The Champions
artist: Queen

I've paid my dues
Time after time
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime
And bad mistakes
I've made a few
I've had my share of sand
Kicked in my face
But I've come through

And we mean to go on and on and on and on

We are the champions - my friends
And we'll keep on fighting
Till the end
We are the champions
We are the champions
No time for losers
'Cause we are the champions of the World

Why do I like it: There's no explanation, We Are The Champions is possibly the best song ever, and it brings back memories whenever I hear it about when I use to play soccer and winning all those championships, and hearing that song come on over the PA system just made the moment so much more involving and tear-jerking (when you score the winning goal by a bicycle kick, you get kind of emotional).

When Worlds Collide
artist: Powerman 5000

what is it really that is going on here,
you've got the system for total control
so is there anybody out there,
now watch us suffer, cause we can't go
what is it really that is in your head,
what little life that you had just died
i'm gonna be the one that's taking over,
now this is what it's like when worlds collide ...
are you ready to go - cause i'm ready to go - what you gonna do
baby - baby
are you going with me - cause i'm going with you - it's the end of
all time

Why do I like it: One of my friends introduced me to this song, and everytime I hear it on the radio or anywhere else I automatically turn it up and listen to it.

Yellow Submarine
artist: Beatles

In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life
In the land of submarines

So we sailed up to the sun
Till we found the sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
In our yellow submarine

We all live in our yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in our yellow submarine,
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

Why do I like it: I'm not really big on The Beatles, but Yellow Submarine is great to listen to no matter what you're feeling, it always makes me chuckle.

In the Still of the Night
artist: Boys II Men

Do do do do
Shoo doop shooby doo
Shoo doop shooby doo
Shoo doop shooby doo
Shoo doop shooby waa
In the still of the night
I held you
Held you tight
Oh I love
Love you so
Promise I'll never
Let you go
In the still of the night
In the still of the night

Why do I like it: My favorite Boys II Men song, I think it is really there best song ever, but some may disagree.

Stand By Me
artist: Ben E. King

When the night has come
And the land is dark
And the moon is the only light we'll see
No, I won't be afraid
No, I won't be afraid
Just as long as you stand
Stand by me

So darling, darling,
stand by me,
oh, stand by me
oh, stand,
stand by me
stand by me

Why do I like it: Baby won't you stand by me, no I won't be afraid...I always listen to this song whenever I'm in a relationship, or I like a girl, or something like that, where I'l always stand by them...
