I was building a system for my brother and sister. They needed a set of speakers that would provide good music and gaming sound without costing a fortune.

I personally want the best for my sound and do not mind spending the money for it.

I saw these altec lansings for $30. They had cheaper but I have come to accept altec lansing as a decent provider of speakers and so trusted them.

After assembling the system and pluging the speakers I started it up.

The speakers are really not that bad. They have plenty of "volume" but can max out. They do have a kind of bass to them but it is not overly deep or clear (hey they were $30 bucks !)

I listened to the bond girls on them and they appear to have a nice range and clarity

They take up little space going vertical instead of wide.

The one gripe I do have is that I would have preferred a longer speaker to speaker wire. I found mine to be a bit on the short side for my uses.
