The Bottom Line yes
I wrote this for an American Literature class.
Poem About Home
Dad's always good for a laugh
sitting at the kitchen table
drinking his morning coffee
at 4 p.m.
Johnny walks in the door and
exchanges his school books for
his many capes and transforms into
a Greek god or Xena Warrior Princess
Sheryl, who he refers to as Hera
drills him with spelling words as
she cooks dinner and pays the bills
and timers her cigarettes
my room is filled with her dolls
that haven't yet sold
guitars and digeridoos
my father thinks are gold
(my mother thinks are old)
I laugh at my father's jokes
and my brothers antics
and my mother
trying to make sense of it all
