I've been a customer of Aromaleigh for about six months. It's a company with serious quality control issues, but I keep coming back to them because despite their flaws, they've got a greater selection and more unique products than the majority of other mineral makeup lines. I've got medium skin with almost no undertones, that is oily and very acne-prone. I'm in my mid-20's with no lines yet.
Pros -
Navigating the site and ordering is fairly easy, and the website looks attractive and has lots of information. Shipping is usually very fast. Samples ship for free now.
They have many, many beautiful colors to choose from in all their products. They have lots of products you won't see with other mineral makeup brands.
They have a greater selection of colors suited for medium & dark skin than I usually see with other brands.
Cons -
Their sample sizes are wildly inconsistent in size and seem to get smaller with every new order.
The colors you see on your computer screen do not match the actual colors well at all. Generally, the actual product is significantly darker. Many of their products have a stronger grey/silver tint than you may be expecting.
Some of their products aren't as close to 100% natural as compared with other mineral makeup.
Customer service is virtually nonexistent. Complaints are met with attitude.
Observations -
I personally think that most of their colors, especially in the eyeshadows, are absolutely gorgeous. They are complex and have varying levels of shimmer, and are definitely comparable to high-end commercial makeup.
Lots of their products have multiple uses, such as using blush as eyeshadow or eyeshadow as lip gloss.
Their foundation, which is lighter coverage than I would like, is maybe a little too diverse. Their color systems seems set up to have to buy dozens of samples in order to mix them to find a perfect skin match. For those of you who have lots of free time and love to experiment, this may be really great. I'm fairly lazy and got tired of trying out different mixes, though I find most people never noticed whether the color I was trying out that day was a good match or not. I've always been a very difficult person to match anyway, I've yet to find the perfect match in any brand of foundation. With Aromaleigh, the closest I've found is 3N.
Mineral makeup looks very natural, but it doesn't cover scars or undereye circles very easily. It does not make me break out and I wish I had known about this kind of makeup 10 years ago. It seems to help soak up excess oil during the day and doesn't melt off my face as fast as other makeup does. I do recommend wet application on eyeshadows though, and possibly other products, and *always* spritz your face with some kind of water when you're done applying, it really helps to set the makeup and looks a lot better.
The products I really like from Aromaleigh are the illuminating perle powders (which make great neutral blushes or eyeshadows, as well as all-over glow) and 'Satin Petals' eyeshadow. I least like the lip gloss, and the liquid blush (which is currently discontinued).
Overall, I say Aromaleigh is worth a try. Don't buy a huge amount the first time, but try a little bit of a lot of their products because you might be very surprised at what you do and do not like. Samples are a must.
