3 years, 2 deaths, lots of friends, a few idiots and 256 reviews later.

The Bottom Line If it weren't for finding epinions.com, I never would have met some of my best friends..
So, after writing another cheesy toy review this morning, I realized today is my 3 year anniversary at Epinions.com. Blah, Blah, Blah, I am not the sentimental type with online activities, but I thought it was cool thinking about how if it weren't for finding epinions.com off of some freebie board link 3 years ago, I never would have met some of my very good friends online and actually meet 2 of them in real life.
On the same token, it's also sad to see 2 good hearted people that were well known on the site pass away. Mike, AKA Roadiem and Mark AKA Hard_to_please. I know there have been others involved in the site that have passed away also, but to be fair, I really wasn't familiar with them they way I was familair with Mike and Mark.
Then we have your standard everyday idiots. Since I was never into naming names if it was bad, I just won't go there now, but, we all have come across our fair share of idiots on the site. Whether it be the aaaaaaaaaaaaaaa review writing idiot, the one who sends hate mail because they don't agree with you idiot, or the idiot who just has nothing better to do than to stalk you online.
Let see, what else? Ah yes...the pathological liar. I never had an experience with a real-life pathological liar, and even though online friendships should be taken with a grain of salt, it was still interesting to see how far one will go just to get attention, not once, but twice. Ok if you are new to this site, you have no clue what I am talking about, but some of us older members sure can remember that poor chickydee from upstate NY with all of her pregnancies and husbands, or more appropriately, her cyber pregnancies and husbands.
And then there were friends
Even though I love to post away on epinion related boards with other epinion members and consider them friends, there are some who I met this exact way who are no longer involved with epinions that I consider to be some of my good friends. These are the people I can talk to outside of epinions and never mention epinions once. These are the people where we send each other Christmas Cards through the post office and have each others phone numbers. These are the people who don't see you online for a day or two and worry. These are the people I go to with real life problems and not just cyber problems. If it weren't for epinions in the first place, I never would have met these great people. They know who they are, so I won't mention their names either.
Ah well, since this is the general comments area, I guess I should just say this: Stick around for awhile, you may just like it and actually find it interesting. Where else can you find pathological liars, idiots, some damn good writers and some good friends all in one place?
