So, you have bought a Canon A520 digital camera...now you want to improve your pictures color clarity, huh? Then add a filter kit to your must have list. I found the Opteka High Definition Professional 3pc Filter Kit Lens Filter For Canon Powershot A520 on Ebay, using "buy it now" for $22.99 + shipping.
This Opteka High Definition Professional 3pc Filter Kit For Canon Powershot A520 came with a UV filter, Polarizing filter, Fluorescent Filter, tube adapter and carrying case.
UV Filter: This filter is a general purpose one and can be left on at all times to help prevent scratches to your cameras lens. It helps with haziness and adds deeper color to your photos. It's grey in appearance.
Polarizing filter: If you want to take a picture outdoors and the sun is bright, use this rose colored lens. It will give more color, rather than white glare, to your sky. It, also, helps to keep glare and reflection off of whatever the subject of your photo is.
Fluorescent filter: If you take a lot of photos inside where there is fluorescent lighting, this clear filter will take the "yellowing" out of the picture. It will help keep the natural coloring of people in the picture.
Tube Adapter: This may or may not be included with your filter set. It is what attaches the filters to your camera and a must have. If it isn't included make sure you buy one or your only going to be able to look at the filters, not use them. You screw one of the lenses on to the adapter and remove the ring around your camera lens to attach the adapter to the camera.
Carrying case: The case is black with a fold over snap top to hold the filters in. All sets, that I have seen, come with this rigid case. It holds the lenses securely in place and protects them from getting scratched when not in use.
My use of these filters has helped make my pictures better. I take a lot of outdoor shots and the sky in my photos were more white glare, even with my camera's outdoor setting, than any natural color. The first time I showed my husband a photo I had taken with the polarizing filter he said, "Wow! The sky really is blue!" (in reference to my saying after many outdoor photo's how the sky must be white and couldn't possibly be me or my camera.) On cloudy days or indoor shots, I like my UV filter. The colors are deeper and more pleasing to my eye. I haven't used the fluorescent filter as I haven't taken any photos indoor where that lighting was used. Overall, I'm very pleased with what the Opteka High Definition Professional 3pc Filter Kit Lens Filter For Canon Powershot A520 has done for my photos.
