Awesome! (Reply to this comment)

Wow, I am so glad I haven't ever had to get a tooth pulled or a cavity taken care of. The way you described the dentist tools and what a dentist is was hilarious. Good use of hyperboles to get the point and feelings across.

You know..I kept telling Michael that I'd rather be in labour too! At least I know there's an END to the pain or a good result! Losing a tooth isn't the greatest end result! LOL

Clove leaves?? Never heard of that before. I was using EVERYTHING, tea bags (disgusting)..I even tried bag balm on some gauze..equally disgusting. Just go to the dentist and make sure you get properly taken care of and your pain will go away! Good luck!

Personally (Reply to this comment)

While I am way past this point, I'd rather give birth than have an abscess and root canal any day.
Hope you feel better soon! No fun at all!

Not funny.... (Reply to this comment)

but it was funny; why do we laugh at someone else's misery - perhaps because they choose to deal with pain with humor.... and you did it very well. Enjoyed.

Swelling in your face = Not Good! I'm sure you didn't need me to tell ya that. Toothaches are terrible but I promise you, not all dentists are creepy madmen out to inflict pain on helpless, hapless victims. LOL! Sorry, I know it's not a laughing matter, but however did you manage to keep you sense of humor after that ordeal? Glad your better! Smiles, Char aka former dental assistant who LOVED assisting oral surgery. (feel free to hear mad laughter.....now)

I stopped by to read and commiserate ... (Reply to this comment)

'cause I'm suffering too, and when you posted the subject line, I knew I had to come read!
I need to make an appointment for a root canal...and have been putting it off! Have relied on clove oil and whole clove buds for a couple of months now! Just hate going to the dentist!
Feel better! :)

Thanks Lorace, I found myself feeling better when I wrote it. I went to a much gentler dentist (horror-lover), and he gave me some penicillin so my mouth has shriveled down to the size of only a grapefruit (previously compared to a second head), so I do feel better. Laughter is the best medicine, thanks for R/R!

You wrote this so well! (Reply to this comment)

I don't know how I can laugh so hard when someone is hurting so bad. You make me think I'm related to that monstrous dentist. But you were so funny in parts of this that I nominated you for the next Comedy Central.
But, oh, the abscess! No laughing matter and in Arizona we'd have sued the dentist. Bad move! I've had this and spent a long time suffering only to be told, "Don't worry. It will go away." But they didn't tell me how to live until then.
I do hope, Summer, that it's better now.
Great Review,
Lorace
