The Bottom Line Lambert Kay's Fresh 'n Clean Cologne Drops for pets goes a long way.
While browsing through a pet store last week, I noticed an unlimited array of dog shampoos on the rack. My eyes swallowed the words on the labels--something I normally research only at grocery stores. One of the shampoos on the rack smelled exactly like Johnson's Baby Powder, with a hint of lavender. It had a tiny bottle of dog cologne with it. You know...one of those, "Buy the shampoo, get the cologne free." When my daughter, Kim, was just a baby, I doused her in Johnson's Baby Powder. I'm one of those mothers who love to hold memories of such priceless moments. The more powder I sprinkled, the more Kim giggled. One whiff of Lambert Kay's fresh and clean scented dog shampoo captured precious memories. Sold. Into the checkout line I hurled. Later in the day I soaked the dogs in this best-smelling-shampoo-ever, towel-dried them, and then let them run with merriment. Brooke and Abby were as thrilled with the new fragrance as their mistress. No scent could surpass these two aromatized terriers--not even a poodle's updated fragrance evolving fresh out of Gay Paree. Soon I was to learn that the dog shampoo created fresh scents throughout my condominium as well. The pizza deliveryman stepped inside that evening. As I was signing the receipt, he said, "Ma'am, it sure does smell good in here." I thanked him. Soon after, my neighbor stopped in for a visit. In conversation, she added, "Beverly, you smell good." (It was the dogs that had the bath...not me.) I simply thanked Ann. Finally, my neighbor's reason for complimenting me was revealed. Before turning in for the night I removed my contact lenses. It was then that I realized the fresh dog shampoo fragrance had remained motionless on my hands. It had gone nowhere, and I was glad. Running a bit late the next morning I quickly hopped out of bed several minutes after the snooze alarm sounded, grabbed a cup of hot coffee, and headed for the shower. I put on my make-up, dressed, fed the dogs, put them outside, and then took a last look in my mirror while straightening my scarf. While turning to leave, I suddenly remembered something that would improve my day. Yes, I grabbed that little bottle that says on it, cologne drops for pets, doused some drops behind my ears, grabbed my car keys, and scurried into the traffic with the rest of the morning world. Thankfully, I made it to work on time. While standing in the mail room sorting my mail, one of my co-workers walked in to do likewise. Soon I hear those glorious words, "Um..Bev, you smell so good. What fragrance are you wearing?" I just smiled. That was the first time in a long time that I was caught speechless. But one thing is for certain...I love my new cologne. So does everybody else. Of course, this is a concealed matter just between Abby, Brooke, and me. So grin and bear it, Victoria. You're no longer the only one out there with a secret. Copyright Beverly Murrelle 01/14/03 |
