| sunstreeks's Full Review: Roller Coaster Tycoon For Windows |
Roller Coaster Tycoon is the ultimate Sims game for those who couldn’t keep a tamogochi digital pet alive for a day let alone manage an entire digital family and home. I played The Sims for a hour or so and became disinterested very quickly despite my cheat codes for infinite money. I looked through our games and found a different Sims game to try called Roller Coaster Tycoon.
I have a imagination I just don’t have any creativity, so when I first started playing Roller Coaster Tycoon, the game where you build and manage your own amusement park, there was a bit of chaos. I ignored my given objective to pass the game by getting such and such number of people into my park, and instead found myself placing bathrooms, ice cream stands, and burger joints everywhere and only placing rides where I could find room.
After awhile and failing the first four attempts to build a successful amusement park I got the hint of the game and started doing really well. My latest game was located in the desert. I began my amusement park by adding bumper cars, a Ferris wheel, a haunted house and more. After a few rides were going and more people began coming into my park I put bathrooms, garbage cans, and benches in a very unorganized fashion all over the place. Hired a electrician to fix the rides whenever they closed down for repairs, and my little handyman who empties garbage’s, waters flowers, and cleans up all the puke around the thrill rides. Pop and burgers are offered at my amusement park but while trying to keep things realistic to real life the $4 a burger just doesn’t fly with many of my guests at my park.
This park is thriving and with a lot of reconstruction to what I started it with, is now a park full of people with long lines at every ride and a large amount of profit generated every month. Too bad I can't get a real check cut to me for all of my accomplishments.
-----------------------------
With Roller Coaster Tycoon, the entertainment level is high since you are continually able to build, destroy, and rebuild to make your park the best it can be. Un-like many Sims where its just a game you continue till you get bored and never really WIN, not only must you build a park that people enjoy but you must complete objectives within a certain amount of time. When you do win, or lose, you can either start a new game or continue with the one you are already playing and set your own goals. The ability to build your own rides, not just put them in your park but construct them is a favorite of mine. Without an ounce of creativity in my blood I can build roller coasters, go cart tracks and more.
All ages can play Roller Coaster Tycoon and still enjoy it. The level of difficulty differs depending on which environment you choose to build your amusement park. It is a very addicting game and even after finishing the given objective you will find yourself continuing for days or weeks on the same park before starting a new one.
Graphics:
No amusement park is complete without over-flowing garbage cans and vomit all over the place. The graphics may not be spectacular but were amusing enough for me. To me, it looks like it was done by a really good cartoon artist.
Sounds:
People talking at all times, mostly muffled but you can make out a few things your guests are saying. The music that plays from each of the rides reminds me of what you'd actually here coming from that ride in the amusment park.
